Tổng Bí thư Nguyễn Phú Trọng sẽ thăm Hoa Kỳ trong 4 ngày từ 6-10/7/2015.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will visit the United States for 4 days from July 6-10, 2015.

The visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the United States is considered by world public opinion to be of great importance. Therefore, many foreign newspapers have reported and commented on this trip.

AP news agency has an article titled "'Vietnam's historic visit' because of Obama", giving general news about the event of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to the US.

The article said: "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said he hopes (the two countries) will build trust and create more opportunities to improve relations between the former enemies at a time marking the 20th anniversary of normalization of relations.

The two countries are also growing closer together over shared concerns about China's sovereignty claims in the South China Sea."

The AP news agency also said that the leaders of the two countries will discuss trade, human rights and defense cooperation.

The Washington Post (USA) quoted the statement of Mr. Hoang Dinh Quan, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, about this visit of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam to the US.

According to Mr. Quan, "Hanoi and Washington will not immediately completely unify all the views of both governments. But by inviting the leader of the Communist Party, a position that does not exist in the US political system, Washington has shown more complete respect for the Vietnamese political regime.

We look to the United States for many things: educational cooperation, science and technology, investment, markets, health care and culture. As long as we have mutual respect, understanding and sincere dialogue, our relationship will thrive."

Reuters news agency quoted Ernest Bower, a Southeast Asia expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, as saying that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit was "historic and timely", aimed at breaking down barriers of trust.

"The two countries... are entering a new era of deepening cooperation in areas such as security, politics and diplomatic engagement," Mr. Bower said, "the political leaders of the two countries must develop a level of trust and mutual respect. That is the purpose of this visit."

In parallel with the news about General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to the United States, most major news agencies reported that President Barack Obama is expected to officially visit Vietnam later this year at the invitation of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. However, the White House has not confirmed this information.
