From June 1, industrial statistics indicators will change.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has just issued Circular No. 07/2011/TT-BKHĐT on the application of the statistical indicator “monthly industrial production index” to replace the indicator “monthly industrial production value at 1994 constant prices”. This will be the indicator applied uniformly nationwide.
“Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities use the monthly industrial production index as an official statistical indicator to plan and evaluate the implementation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and long-term industrial production development plans at the national and provincial levels,” the document stated.
The industrial production index is currently being tested by the General Statistics Office and gives results close to actual industrial growth.
Previously, the General Statistics Office also proposed to replace the industrial production value statistics index at 1994 fixed prices, which is no longer highly accurate due to the base period being too far away. According to this agency, the industrial production index is currently being tested and gives results that are close to actual industrial growth.
With Circular 07, the General Statistics Office and its affiliated units continue to be assigned to calculate the industrial production index. Data users are ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, other central agencies, people's committees at all levels, units, individuals, etc.
The unification of the data base for evaluating the implementation of the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2011-2015 in the resolutions of Party congresses at all levels will be calculated by the General Statistics Office and converted to the industrial production value index at 1994 fixed prices.
This Circular takes effect from June 1, 2011.
