From May 15, models are banned from taking nude photos

From today, May 15, models and beauties in Vietnam will be banned from taking nude photos.

According to Circular 01/2016 issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, starting from May 15, beauty queens and model contestants will not be allowed to take photos or record personal images without costumes or using offensive costumes or makeup and intentionally or unintentionally disseminate or circulate them on telecommunications networks.

This means that beauties and models in Vietnam will absolutely not be allowed to take nude photos.

At the same time, Circular 01/2016 also angered many musicians because it deprived authors of their legitimate ownership of their works when it introduced a Commitment Form on payment of royalties and remuneration for use of works, which excluded authors and was completely contrary to the spirit of Decree 15/2016.

After these two regulations were issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 24, many lawyers, photographers, beauties, models and musicians voiced strong reactions. However, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has yet to give a definitive answer.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien has directed the Department of Performing Arts and the Copyright Office to review and amend the above two regulations accordingly. However, before Circular 01/2016 takes effect, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has not yet made a decision on whether to abolish the above two regulations or not.
