From December 16, Deputy Minister of Transport concurrently holds the position of Chairman of Vietnam Railway Corporation.
The Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport has just agreed to dismiss Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh from the position of Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railway Corporation from December 16.

The consideration for Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh to retire will be carried out by the Railway Corporation in accordance with the provisions of law.
In addition, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Transport also agreed to assign Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Dong to concurrently be in charge of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railway Corporation from December 16, 2016 until new personnel are available.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport requested the Board of Members and the Party Standing Committee of Vietnam Railways Corporation to meet and agree on the dismissal of Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh from the position of Chairman of the Board of Members.
Previously, Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Railway Corporation, sent a letter to the Ministry of Transport and the Board of Members of the Railway Corporation requesting to resign and retire.
It is known that the Ministry of Transport has a plan to rotate and transfer Mr. Thanh to hold the position of Director - Deputy Head of the Department of Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of the Ministry.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh, born in 1960, was mobilized and appointed by the Ministry of Transport to hold the position of Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railway Corporation in April 2013, from the position of Director of the Department of Transport, Ministry of Transport.
In recent years, the senior personnel of the Railway Corporation have been constantly changing. The railway is assessed to have some changes, but also has many controversial issues. Among them are cases related to Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh such as the proposal to buy old train cars from China or the recent conclusion of the Government Inspectorate on capital contribution and business outside the railway sector.
