From August 7-9: 10th Congress of Vietnam Journalists Association
The 10th Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association (term 2015 - 2020) will take place in Hanoi for 3 days, from August 7 - 9, 2015.
The Congress will have 501 official delegates, including 389 male delegates and 112 female delegates. In addition to 49 delegates who are ex officio members of the Executive Committee of the 9th term, 452 delegates are elected from all levels of the Association.
The oldest delegate is journalist Tran Xuan Thuyet, Association of "Precious Medicinal Plants" Magazine, born in 1937. The youngest delegate is journalist Do Thi Phuong Lan, reporter for Cong Thuong newspaper, born in 1986.

The Congress will evaluate the Association's activities over the past five years, and determine the direction, goals, tasks, and solutions for the coming term. Documents to be presented to the Congress include: Report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term IX, on "Improving political qualities, professional ethics, and professional capacity; building the Association's organization and team of journalists to meet the requirements of the new era"; Draft amendments and supplements to the "Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association"; Review report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term IX; Report on the Association's inspection work, and a number of other documents.
In particular, the Organizing Committee has gathered over 30 presentations on many issues of interest to the community, such as professional ethics of journalists, the issue of protecting the rights and legitimate interests of members in their work, the influence of social networks on journalism activities...
It is known that during the last term, 3 more federations and 40 branches were established. The number of journalists voluntarily joining the Association increased rapidly. The total number of members reached over 22,000, an increase of over 5,000 compared to the beginning of the term.
Currently, the country has 270 associations, including 63 provincial and municipal journalists' associations with 12,188 members; 19 inter-associations directly under the Central Association with 5,135 members and 188 branches directly under the Central Association with 4,165 members.
Along with the development of the association and its members, the Association has reviewed, rectified, handled violations, dissolved ineffective units, and removed the names of associations and members that violated the Association's Charter. In 2014, the Central Association decided to dissolve 27 branches and remove the names of 371 members.
