Author Tran Thi Loi recounted the story about Uncle Ho that “in Viet Bac, every time Uncle went on a business trip, there were usually two comrades accompanying him. Fearing that Uncle would get tired, the two comrades wanted to carry his backpack. Uncle Ho said, “Going through the forest and climbing mountains is tiring for everyone. If you let one person carry it, that person will get tired faster. It’s better to divide it up so that each person can carry a little bit.” When everything was divided equally into three backpacks, Uncle Ho asked, “Have you divided it equally?” “Yes, sir.” After walking a short distance, Uncle Ho went to the comrade next to him and picked up his backpack. “Why is your backpack heavier than mine?” Uncle Ho insisted on opening the three backpacks and dividing them again, saying, “Only true labor can bring happiness to people.”
(Work "Some teachings and stories about the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh. National Political Publishing House. H. 2007).

Uncle Ho used to talk a lot about justice, openness, the way of life for everyone, and that work is glorious, and idleness will lead to evil. Indeed, from big to small things, Uncle did exactly that. Everyone respected, loved, and wished for Uncle Ho to be healthy and live long to take care of the country and the people, so they thought that doing small things on the road like carrying his backpack for him was a natural thing for children and grandchildren to do, but Uncle Ho thought differently. He did not agree because he never wanted to be an official, he only wanted to be a servant of the people, to be equal to the workers around him, so that he could be at peace and do good work for a long time. Uncle Ho once confided: it is easy for a cadre to have prestige, but it is very difficult to build trust. The matter of dividing backpacks, the matter of checking the division of work equally, so that no one is too heavy, too light, especially not wanting to be light for others to have to be heavy. Only our Uncle Ho, who always lives for others, can do that.

General Nguyen Chi Thanh, while in Viet Bac, once carried a battalion officer across a deserted stream when the officer did not know it was the general, and was afraid to take off his shoes, and wading through the stream was tiring, so he asked to be carried. Later, he accidentally found out that the person who carried him that day was the general in charge of the General Political Department. He was shocked, but the general laughed happily as if nothing had happened. During the Truong Son campaign, there was a strong officer who ordered his soldiers to carry him on his stretcher all day and night on the march, and he also "instructed" that they were carrying an important asset of the resistance on their shoulders, so they needed to be very careful. In the northern rear, there was a story about a ship that had docked but the commander still did not want to wade a short distance in the water, and asked his soldiers to carry him onto the ship. They still fulfilled their duties, but stories like that will be spread forever. That is the danger.
From such real-life stories, we can see the greatness of Ho Chi Minh's vision, morality and style. In studying Uncle Ho, the most difficult thing is to overcome oneself, that is, overcome individualism and privilege in conditions where we can easily get what we want. Through several resistance wars, our army has many examples of people who have learned from and followed Uncle Ho. Uncle Ho once said that to be a general, one must learn from Uncle Thanh, to be a lieutenant colonel, one must learn from Uncle Kien (Colonel, later Lieutenant General Hoang Kien, from Do Luong district, Nghe An), those are the most typical examples of morality and style of learning from and following Uncle Ho in our army at that time.
