(Baonghean) - After 3 months of training on the training ground, the 110 new recruits were no longer confused. They were familiar with the training ground, with guns and ammunition, with the spirit of solidarity and high discipline. They had become real soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army, ready to fight and protect the Fatherland...

Meeting Ho Nang Tung again at Regiment 764, we were surprised to see the sudden change in this young man from Thanh Vinh. Instead of the awkwardness and shyness from the first day, Tung is now confident and bold; his slender, scholarly features are replaced by strength. As the eldest child in a family of traders in Quang Trung ward, the "noble son" Ho Nang Tung only knows how to study and play. After graduating from high school, his parents advised him to join the army so that "the army can train him to become a good person".

Tung said: “Regarding training in the regiment, I was trained in discipline, physical strength, 7 basic political education lessons, 8 command lessons, 7 movement postures on the battlefield... Before, at home I didn't know what labor was, now I know how to grow crops, how to repair things. I feel like I know how to do more useful things.” Listening to Tung happily boasting about his excellent results in the final exam for new soldiers, we understood more clearly a soldier's truth: "Leaving is victory/ Returning is maturity".

During the breaks between training sessions for new soldiers, we heard the cheerful laughter and the warm singing of comrades. Soldier Bui Huu Son, 25 years old, sang with great passion. Graduated from Vinh University, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, Son registered for military service. Bui Huu Son shared: When I registered for military service, I simply thought that joining the army was to practice a more mature and confident demeanor, and to be more stable in life. But after 3 months of training, I felt that I really loved the military environment. Here, there is not only discipline but also the love and responsibility of "older soldiers" for "younger soldiers"; there is the sharing of joys and sorrows between comrades and teammates;... 3 months of training helped me become more mature... I am determined to strive to do my best to serve in the army for a long time".

“Young shoots follow old bamboos/ the children's generation follows the heroic father's generation” - Those were the words that the father of soldier Lo May Giang, Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district told his son before he set off to wear the luggage of a soldier. Giang's father is a veteran, a war invalid of the anti-American resistance war. In 2014, Lo May Giang graduated from the National Academy of Public Administration (on a selection basis) and returned to his hometown. Before submitting his son's job application, Giang's father believed: To be a good officer, one must first be a good citizen, so he asked him to complete his military service well. And there is no better place to train a person than in the military environment... Remembering his father's words, Lo May Giang actively trained, after 3 months of training, Giang achieved excellent results. Now Giang is used to the military lifestyle, used to the alarm clock, used to political activities, eats, sleeps and exercises properly, so he has gained weight and his health is getting better and better. His concept and ideal of life are very positive: "For me, living means being responsible and contributing."

Unlike everyone else, the 3 months of training for soldier Va Ba Ma, 23 years old, Muong Long commune, Ky Son district was not easy. The day Ma left for the army, Ma's wife Lau Y Guu was 8 months pregnant, now Ma's first daughter is 2 months old. Ma said: I miss my wife and children so much, every time I call home and hear her crying, I can't stand it. Luckily, my teammates and brothers encouraged me, so I got better and became more determined. For Mong people, joining the army is an honor not only for myself but also for my whole family. Moreover, when I registered for the army, I also determined - I joined the army to learn good things, beauty, ways of thinking, learn a profession, how to do business, develop the economy so that later I can return to Muong Long to raise crops and do business well. My teammates helped me a lot, and my superiors rated me as good.

Sweating on the training ground, less blood on the battlefield, all 110 new recruits are clearly aware of this and then compete to practice and train well. From the place where when they first entered the training, everyone was unfamiliar with the military environment. Now they are all familiar with the environment, collective lifestyle; learned a lot of things so now they are all steadfast and confident, physically strong, good at training, resilient in increased labor. Captain Dau Hong Son, Battalion Commander of Battalion BB41 said: According to the results of the test at the end of this new soldier training, all 110 new recruits had good results. Through 11 test contents, all 110 new recruits completed the requirements, the rate of good and excellent was over 70%.

3 months of training have “hardened” the new recruits into real, steady soldiers, with many improvements in all aspects, with full qualities and fighting skills. When asked, the young soldiers are all proud: “As soldiers of the Vietnam People’s Army, I vow to do my best to go wherever the Fatherland needs me, strive to be an excellent soldier, and fulfill my duties well in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland”…
