The jury sentenced Nguyen Thi Chung (who is raising a child under 36 months old) to life in prison; Nguyen Van Do, Nguyen Thu Ha and Nguyen Thi Loan to death.
According to the indictment of the Supreme People's Procuracy, from August 2012 to December 28, 2012, Nguyen Thi Chung, Nguyen Van Do, Nguyen Thu Ha and Nguyen Thi Loan repeatedly bought drugs from Laos and brought them to Vietnam to sell for profit.
Having served a 48-month prison sentence for illegal drug trafficking in 2008, but after being pardoned, Nguyen Thi Chung played the role of mastermind and continued to collude with Nguyen Van Do, Nguyen Thu Ha, and Nguyen Thi Loan to illegally buy and sell drugs across the border four times with a total weight of over 14.5 kg.
Discovered by the police, Chung forged his identity card and then fled abroad. On December 28, 2012, Chung was arrested.
