On the evening of November 2, 2017, Luc brought a piece of electric wire, one end with an exposed copper core threaded through a bamboo tube and the other end of the wire used to plug into an electrical outlet, along with a Thai knife, to the victim's shop in My Khanh commune (Phong Dien district).
Luc waited until the two victims closed the shop and went to sleep before sneaking into the house. Ms. N. heard the noise and woke up. Luc took out a knife and stabbed the victims 16 times until the handle broke.
Hearing her sister's voice, Ms. L. ran out of the room and was strangled by Luc with both hands. Luc grabbed the electric wire with the intention of electrocuting the two victims but failed because of an electrical short circuit. The victims shouted and Luc fled the scene.
On November 5, 2017, Luc was arrested while hiding in Soc Trang. Ms. N. died due to severe injuries. At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime. The panel of judges determined that the defendant's actions showed a determination to kill to the end, and there were many aggravating circumstances, so the highest penalty was applied./.
