Unfortunately for him, the company where he worked and hid caught fire. Because he was the first person to discover the fire, he was invited by the police to work according to regulations. Afraid of being discovered, he quit his job and fled Binh Duong. But just a week later, he was arrested by the Nghe An Provincial Police's Criminal Investigation Department...
His name is Dao Thai Dong (born in 1987), residing in Thanh Xuan commune, Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An). After finishing high school, Dong passed the entrance exam to the College of Electromechanics in Ho Chi Minh City and continued studying until graduation. After graduating, Dong left Ho Chi Minh City for Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to find a job. Here, Dong applied to work as a mechanical worker for a company. During his time living and working here, with his gentle nature, Dong was loved by everyone, but an incident happened that completely changed Dong's personality. That was on a day in July 2012, just because of a conflict with a male colleague named Den, Dong used a hammer to hit Den many times in the head, causing him to be seriously injured and die shortly after. Fearful, Dong fled Ba Ria - Vung Tau, lived in hiding in many places, and cut off contact with relatives and friends. In September 2012, Dao Thai Dong came to Binh Duong province to apply for a job at the Eyeglass Company in Bau Bang Industrial Park, Lai Thuyen Commune, Ben Cat District.

After the murder, the Investigation Police Department of Ba Ria Vung Tau Province Police started an investigation, using many professional measures to capture the murderer Dao Thai Dong but without results. On May 27, 2013, the Investigation Police Department of Ba Ria Vung Tau Province Police issued a nationwide wanted notice for Dao Thai Dong for murder and closely coordinated with the Criminal Investigation Department (PC52) of Nghe An Province Police to immediately arrest Dong if he was in Nghe An, and at the same time, mobilized the subject's family to persuade Dong to surrender. However, after committing the crime and fleeing, Dong did not contact his family and changed his contact phone number. Dao Thai Dong's wanted file was always kept in mind by detectives of PC52 whenever the unit organized working trips to the South to capture wanted subjects hiding in the Southern provinces and the Central Highlands.
At the end of October 2013, among the sources of information about the hiding places of wanted subjects reported by the base, the PC52 detectives determined that Dao Thai Dong was currently in Binh Duong and was working as a worker for an eyewear company in Bau Bang Industrial Park (Lai Thuyen Commune, Ben Cat District). At that time, Plan 649 dated October 28, 2013 of Nghe An Provincial Police on launching a high-point campaign to capture wanted subjects hiding in the Southern provinces was approved and implemented. Immediately, the leaders of PC52 established a special task force to go to the South. Because there were many sources of information about the hiding places of wanted subjects, the task force had to split up to investigate and verify.
In the case of Dao Thai Dong, because it is a special criminal case, the detectives had to coordinate with Department C52B to conduct verification as soon as they arrived in Binh Duong, because if there was a delay, it was very likely that the subject would move to another place, making it difficult to arrest. Checking the list of employees from Nghe An working at the Eyeglass Company, the detectives discovered that Dao Thai Dong was a maintenance worker at the company.
However, according to the HR manager, Dong had quit his job a week ago and left his temporary residence. He did not know the reason why Dong quit his job, but he only knew that a week ago, there was a fire in the company. Dong was the first person to discover the fire, so he was invited by the Ben Cat District Police to come to the headquarters to give a statement according to regulations. But for some unknown reason, Dong did not come and quit his job immediately after that.
According to Ben Cat District Police, due to the unusual behavior of the employee of the Glasses Company, the police agency verified, extracted records and discovered that Dao Thai Dong was a wanted person, afraid of being discovered, so he did not dare to appear at the police station and could not continue working at the company and fled.
Believing that Dao Thai Dong might not have left Binh Duong province, the task force checked Dong's relationships in Lai Thuyen commune and at the optical company. Through the investigation, the detectives obtained important information: Dao Thai Dong had an appointment to meet the company's manager to receive his salary that he had not received before fleeing. Not allowing Dao Thai Dong to escape, the task force arranged forces to capture the subject right at a cafe in Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city (Binh Duong) while he was sitting with the manager.
At the police station, Dao Thai Dong confessed that after the fire, he was afraid of meeting the police, so he quit his job and stayed with his girlfriend in Di An Town, Binh Duong. When the company manager called to report to the company to receive his October salary, Dong lied that he had returned to his hometown in Thanh Chuong, Nghe An, then returned to Dong Nai and was staying at a friend's house to distract the police investigation.
After taking statements and completing related procedures, the PC52 working group handed over the subject Dao Thai Dong to the Ba Ria Vung Tau Police Investigation Agency for handling according to the law. Also during this trip, the working group arrested 10 other wanted subjects who were hiding in the Southern and Central Highlands provinces and transferred them safely to Nghe An.
