(Baonghean)On March 25, 2013, the Government issued Decree No. 23/2013/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 45/2011/ND-CP dated June 17, 2011 of the Government on registration fees.

This is considered a move by the Government to implement Resolution No. 02/NQ-CP dated January 7, 2013 to remove difficulties for production and business and support the market. Accordingly, from April 1, 2013, for passenger cars with less than 10 seats (including the driver), the Government has agreed on the second and subsequent registration fee nationwide at 2%; the first registration fee will be 10%. In case it is necessary to apply a higher fee in accordance with the actual conditions in each locality, the People's Council of the province or centrally-run city will decide to adjust the increase but not exceeding 15% (According to current regulations, the maximum fee is 20%).

For other types of cars, trailers or semi-trailers pulled by cars, the registration fee remains at 2%.

Also in this Decree, the Government requires provinces and centrally-run cities that are applying a registration fee of more than 15% for first-time registration of passenger cars with less than 10 seats (including the driver) to immediately apply the 15% rate from April 1, 2013, until the People's Council of that province or city issues a new registration fee rate.

This Decree takes effect from April 1, 2013.
