(Baonghean)During the first flag-raising ceremony of each month, the principal would tell the students an interesting story about life, one with profound humanistic meaning, especially stories related to the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh.
This is the program for the weekly flag-raising ceremony at Do Luong I High School, which has been regularly maintained since the 2011-2012 school year. The Party Committee and the school's Board of Directors have strived to find a more approachable way to engage with students, contributing to the education of moral qualities and ideals, equipping them with life skills, and helping them strive to become good children and excellent students.
Now, it has become a tradition; students are incredibly excited when it's time to greet the flag. This is because it's no longer rigid and formulaic like before, but now includes interesting and meaningful "Stories Under the Flag." These are simple stories about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh. Or it could be a story about a real-life example of a poor but studious student who achieved high academic results, or a touching story about a hardworking mother who sacrificed everything so her child could go to school… All the stories are concisely and clearly presented so that students can easily understand them.
The "Story Under the Flag" program, implemented by the Party Branch of Do Luong I High School, led by the Party Branch Secretary and Principal, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Huong, has yielded significant results. Beyond raising students' awareness, it has also fostered a greater sense of responsibility in their studies and participation in meaningful social activities. Monthly, the Youth Union organizes student activities such as cleaning and maintaining the Do Luong district martyrs' cemetery, fundraising to help disabled and orphaned children, and numerous cultural exchange events to support those less fortunate and those in difficult circumstances. They also organize "study-oriented groups" and "groups to help each other overcome difficulties," and volunteer to visit and care for families of war invalids and those receiving government assistance.
“The stories told under the flag have greatly enriched my life and that of my classmates. These are very relatable and practical lessons for everyday life that we sometimes haven't paid attention to or been aware of before,” said Nguyen Cong Manh Cuong, a student in class 11D1.
