The liberating ideas of the October Revolution continue to shine.

(Baonghean) -95 years ago, a revolution that opened a new era in human history, a revolution that “Like the dawn of the sun dispelling the darkness... shed new light on human history” (1) broke out and won. That was the great Russian October Socialist Revolution (November 7, 1917 - November 7, 2012).

In human history, there has never been a revolution of such great and profound historical significance as the October Revolution. Previous social revolutions were initiated and led by exploiting classes. The October Revolution was the first revolution led by the proletariat itself. For the first time, an oppressed and exploited class stepped onto the political stage to assume the role of revolutionary leadership, seizing power for the proletariat and working people.

The previous revolutions, after winning, only resulted in the replacement of one yoke of oppression and exploitation by another. The bourgeois revolutions that took place in some European countries, although liberating those nations from the dark medieval period of feudalism, immediately afterwards the bourgeoisie enslaved hundreds of other nations with colonialism, and its brutality was even greater than that of feudal despotism. The birth and development of capitalism has brought the economy to a leap forward.

However, along with that, capitalism itself caused two world wars whose level of destruction and devastation was greater than all the wars of the previous thousand years combined. On the contrary, the October Revolution laid the foundation and socio-political conditions to gradually abolish the oppressive and exploitative regime. The October Revolution not only liberated the proletariat, peasants and working people from the Russian-Tsarist regime, but also liberated the nations dominated by the Tsarist empire. A federation of friendship, solidarity and equality among nations was formed: the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics - abbreviated as the Soviet Union.

Immediately after the victory of the October Revolution, the armies of 14 imperialist countries intervened militarily in an attempt to strangle the fledgling Soviet government. However, the vitality and strength of the new regime defeated that armed intervention. And then came the land decree and the peace decree of the new government, vividly demonstrating the liberating ideology of the October Revolution. Amidst the siege of capitalism, the Soviet people and nations rose from the ruins of war, and within just 20 years, transformed a relatively backward Russia into a powerful industrial country in Europe.

With the political and spiritual strength of the new regime, along with the economic and military strength of the Soviet people, they contributed decisively to defeating and saving humanity from the fascist disaster, creating conditions for the liberation of oppressed peoples all over the world. Although the Soviet state no longer exists, the achievements of the October Revolution still exist and, moreover, are still being strived for and continued to be realized by all working people. The historical milestones that the October Revolution left in human history will last forever. The liberating ideology of the October Revolution continues to illuminate the path to the future of all peoples and all of humanity.

Marx's revolutionary doctrine, Lenin's revolutionary theory and the historic victory of the October Revolution opened the era of liberation for oppressed peoples all over the world, including the Vietnamese people. Armed with patriotism, national culture and morality, and a deep understanding of the pain of all enslaved peoples, Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh came to Lenin, accepted the light of the October Revolution to find a way to save the people and the country for the Vietnamese revolution, to have the "Revolutionary Path" (2) in 1927. The "Revolutionary Path" awakened the entire Vietnamese people, gathered all our people to advance under the banner of national independence revolution associated with socialism, bringing the Vietnamese national liberation revolution into the orbit of the world revolution.

The great victory of the Soviet Union over German fascism created extremely favorable objective conditions, together with the internal strength of the great national unity under the revolutionary banner of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam, creating a "once in a thousand years" opportunity for the August Revolution to succeed, regain independence and freedom for the Fatherland, and establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia.

Lenin's revolutionary theory, the victory of the October Revolution, the victory of the Soviet Union in World War II, paved the way and created objective conditions for the "Revolutionary Path", for the August Revolution of 1945, for the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. That is why President Ho Chi Minh said: The Vietnamese people, the Vietnamese revolution will forever be grateful to Lenin, grateful to the October Revolution, grateful to the great Soviet Union and forever follow the revolutionary path under the light of the October Revolution. The history of each nation, as well as the history of mankind, is never a straight, smooth road, but always has twists, turns, ups and downs. Revolution is never all victory, success without losses, stumbles, mistakes, and even bitter failures. In victory from success, we have more confidence in the revolutionary path opened by the October Revolution. From stumbling, mistakes, even losses and pains, we become more confident in the path we have chosen. That is the mettle of our nation when it has been enlightened by the light of the October Revolution. That is also the mettle of our Party, a genuine revolutionary party, a new-style party following the ideology of Lenin and Ho Chi Minh.

From Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh, our people came to Lenin - with the October Revolution was also the beginning of a loyal and profound friendship: the Vietnam - Soviet Union friendship (before) and the Vietnam - Russia friendship today. The Vietnam - Soviet Union, Soviet - Vietnam friendship was built on the basis of patriotism combined with internationalism; has been constantly cultivated by generations of Vietnamese - Soviet citizens to become more and more sustainable and pure.

From the first communist soldiers trained in the Soviet Union to hundreds of thousands of cadres of all sectors, professions, and levels studying at universities and research institutes in the Soviet Union, the Vietnamese revolution had a team of leaders, managers, scientists... meeting the requirements of winning and maintaining national independence, building and defending the Fatherland. In the two sacred wars against France and the United States, our people received enormous and effective spiritual and material support from the Soviet Union. After our country was reunified, the Hoa Binh hydroelectric project, Thang Long bridge, the Vietnam-Soviet oil and gas joint venture... continued to be economic "monuments" of brotherly friendship. Up to now, the Soviet Union has disintegrated, but that friendship continues to exist and develop. The Russia-Vietnam and Vietnam-Russia relationship has been raised to a comprehensive strategic level. The two peoples have always been together on the path of rebuilding the country to regain the position of a powerful Russia, to have a rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization.

Right from the beginning when our Party was first established, the demonstrations and struggles of Vietnamese workers and peasants, along with the slogans of fighting for national interests and class interests, always had the slogan "Support Russia - Soviet Union". In the great patriotic war of the Soviet people, there were contributions from Vietnamese soldiers in the international army protecting Moscow. In the mind of our Party and the Vietnamese people, supporting Russia - Soviet Union is supporting ourselves, protecting the Soviet Union is protecting ourselves. Being loyal to the Russian October Revolution is being loyal to the revolutionary path that our Party and people have chosen. The times have changed, the political, social and economic conditions of Vietnam and Russia have changed compared to several decades ago, but the Vietnam - Soviet Union friendship, now the Vietnam - Russia friendship, will forever be a strong and loyal friendship, as the highest leaders of the two countries have recently affirmed. Fostering the Vietnam - Russia, Russia - Vietnam friendship is a profound expression of reason and emotion, of the hearts and minds of every citizen of the two countries, a friendship that began with the October Revolution in Russia.

Remembering the merits of Lenin and the October Revolution, and celebrating the 95th anniversary of the great Russian October Revolution in the most worthy way at this time is to successfully implement the thoughts of Lenin, President Ho Chi Minh, and the October Revolution in the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. Continuing to raise high the banner of October revolutionary ideology on the revolutionary path to successfully protect and build the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
