Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2014
Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment coordinates with ministries, branches and localities to organize Vietnam Sea and Islands Week from June 1-8 every year to respond to World Environment Day (June 5) and World Ocean Day (June 8).
Accordingly, the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2014 is organized on a national scale with the theme "Joining hands to protect the blue ocean" in the spirit of World Oceans Day 2013-2014 "Together we have the power to protect the ocean".

This week will be held simultaneously across the country, especially in 28 coastal provinces. The main events and activities in response to the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2014 will be held in Hai Phong city on June 6 and 7. Specifically, the 6th Vietnam Sea Brand Forum with the theme "Vietnam Sea Brand in International Integration" will be held at Hai Au Hotel, Do Son, Hai Phong on June 6, 2014; the rally to celebrate World Oceans Day and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2014 will be broadcast live at 7-8am on June 7, 2014 at Do Son beach and the launching ceremony of the youth volunteer force to clean up the beach environment and a bicycle parade at Do Son beach.
Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2014 is an important event that not only has profound and national significance but also international significance. Therefore, relevant ministries, branches and People's Committees of provinces and cities need to propagate and call on people to join hands to protect the ocean with appropriate contents such as launching campaigns to clean beaches and marine ecological areas; organizing cultural and social movements to change awareness, habits and lifestyles in the community towards environmental friendliness; building awareness of marine biodiversity conservation; visiting and encouraging officers, soldiers and people living on beaches and islands with many difficulties... At the same time, organize hanging banners, billboards, posters and slogans in response in public places, main streets and at workplaces, crowded places...
Organizing the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week in 2014 is an extremely important activity in the work of protecting the sovereignty of the country's seas and islands and promoting the combined strength for the sustainable development of Vietnam's seas and islands, striving that by 2020, the marine and coastal economy of our country will contribute about 53-55% of the country's GDP according to the spirit of the Resolution of the 4th Central Conference of the 10th tenure./.
