National Week of Labor Safety and Hygiene and Fire Prevention
This morning, March 17, at Quang Chau Industrial Park, Bac Giang Province, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs held a launching ceremony for the 15th National Week on Occupational Safety and Hygiene and Fire Prevention and Control (ATVSLĐ - PCCN) with the theme "Enhancing the culture of occupational safety and measures to prevent occupational accidents, occupational diseases, and fires and explosions at the workplace".".
At the launching ceremony, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Thi Hai Chuyen announced statistics on labor accidents and fire and explosion incidents in 2012 and affirmed that the statistics reported by 63 provinces and cities were incomplete; functional sectors, localities and enterprises have not yet fulfilled their responsibilities, leading to the number and seriousness of labor accidents and fire and explosion incidents not decreasing.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly, launched the National Week on Occupational Safety and Health and called on localities and enterprises to strengthen supervision of occupational safety and diseases; strictly punish cases of intentional non-compliance with regulations on occupational safety and health and fire prevention and fighting; and aim to build a culture of safety and sustainable development in the workplace.
The National Week will take place from March 17 to March 23, calling on employers and employees to join hands to implement occupational safety and health - fire prevention and fighting. This is also an action towards sustainable development and contributes to the implementation of the goals of the National Program on occupational safety and health for the period 2011 - 2015.
