Film week to celebrate “Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2013”

From June 17 to June 23, 2013, a Film Week will take place nationwide to celebrate the “National Tourism Year of the Red River Delta - Hai Phong 2013” ​​and “Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2013.”

The program is organized by the Department of Cinema in coordination with Vietnam Feature Film Studio, Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Cinema Company, Film Distribution and Screening Centers of provinces and centrally-run cities. This is a meaningful activity in a series of cultural activities to promote the "National Tourism Year of the Red River Delta - Hai Phong 2013".

During this Film Week, the audience will enjoy 4 documentaries on the theme of Vietnam's seas and islands such as: "Co To Island", "Rivers calling for help", "Sea pollution", "Mountain Video No. 2/2013 with the theme: Welcoming the year of tourism in the Red River Delta" produced by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio.

In addition, 2 feature films were selected to be screened in this Film Week, including: the feature film “Giai Han” - One Member Company Limited of Vietnam Feature Film Studio. And the newly produced feature film: “Dam Me” (directed by Phi Tien Son - Feature Film Joint Stock Company I) which participated in the 2nd Hanoi International Film Festival, the 2013 ASEAN International Film Festival held in Kuching (Malaysia), the 2013 French Film Week in Hanoi and was well received by cinema lovers in the capital. The film carries a meaningful message about the fierce struggle to realize the passions in each person.

According to the Organizing Committee, the films shown during the Film Week are sent DVDs by the Department of Cinema to all mobile projection teams of the Cinema Company, Film Distribution and Screening Centers of provinces and centrally-run cities to serve audiences, especially audiences in remote areas, border and island areas, and armed forces currently stationed in the locality.

Within the framework of the Film Week, the Department of Cinema in collaboration with the Hai Phong Film Distribution and Screening Center organized the opening ceremony of the Film Week in Hai Phong (June 17) and organized a delegation of officials and artists including authors, directors, actors of the film crews of "Passion" and "Co To Island" to exchange with students of the Maritime University on June 18, 2013. The presence of invited guests and artists with faces admired by audiences nationwide will create a joyful and exciting cinematic atmosphere in the city of red phoenix flowers.
