Nghe An Border Guard Youth Reports Achievements at Ho Chi Minh Square

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 11, before the 11th Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Provincial Border Guard, term 2017 - 2022, delegates attending the Congress offered flowers and reported their achievements at the Uncle Ho Statue at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City - Nghe An).

The delegates presented Uncle Ho with a basket of fresh flowers and the outstanding achievements of the Nghe An Border Guard over the past 5 years (2012 - 2017). Notably, the youth of the provincial Border Guard have effectively participated in the fight against all types of crimes, especially drug-related crimes:handled 454 cases/580 subjects; seized evidence of more than 311 heroin cakes, 78,763 synthetic drug pills, 3 grenades, 9 guns, 9 cars and many other evidences; handled administrative violations and paid to the state treasury 2.8 billion VND.

In the volunteer movement, the Border Guard youth participated in 7,801 working days, building and repairing 137 km of rural roads, 85 km of intra-field canals; building and repairing 128 houses, 77 classrooms; helping people harvest crops on 35.5 hectares; organizing the "Let's clean the sea" campaign with 12 campaigns/450 cadres and youth union members participating, cleaning 15.5 km of coastline, collecting 10.5 tons of waste; participating in search and rescue at sea with 45 campaigns/150 cadres, finding 35 vehicles/250 fishermen in distress at sea; preventing and fighting forest fires on 97 hectares; organizing the planting of 15,000 trees.

In addition, the Youth of the Provincial Border Guard is always a pioneer force in effectively carrying out the work of caring for and educating children, the activities of "Repaying gratitude", "When drinking water, remember the source". The highlight of this activity is opening 4 classes to teach and eliminate illiteracy for 115 students; mobilizing 556 dropouts to return to school, 839 school-age children to go to school; organizing visits and giving 435 gifts to families with preferential policies and families with meritorious services to the revolution, worth 87 million VND.

The work of building the Youth Union is constantly being strengthened and improved, actively participating in building a clean and strong Party organization and a comprehensively strong unit./.
