(Baonghean.vn) - Accompanying more than 34,000 candidates of Nghe An officially entering the 2021 High School Graduation Exam, volunteer youth teams of Youth Union chapters at all levels across the province have had many meaningful activities and models to encourage and motivate candidates to enter the exam in the most complete way.

"Supporting exam season" focuses on epidemic prevention and control

Before the exam, the Youth Union chapters at all levels in the province organized information and propaganda activities to help candidates understand the requirements and regulations of the National High School Graduation Exam. At the same time, they reviewed and developed support plans for students in difficult circumstances, candidates in remote areas who need support to review for the exam, and candidates with disabilities. At the same time, they conducted training on knowledge and skills for volunteer teams, especially on how to prevent and combat the Covid-19 epidemic.

Youth union members and volunteers have effectively coordinated with functional forces to ensure epidemic prevention and control at examination sites.

To ensure that the Exam Support activities take place effectively and safely, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has directed affiliated Youth Union and Association units to proactively coordinate with relevant units in the area to deploy disease prevention and control work at exam sites.

Accordingly, the units have proactively implemented activities such as: placing hand sanitizer in front of the examination rooms, distributing free masks to candidates and their families when coming to the examination area; training skills to proactively prevent the epidemic, training skills in traffic flow, promptly clearing traffic jams, ensuring order and safety before and during the examination days.

At the testing sites, volunteers effectively coordinated with the police, health and education sectors to guide candidates in measuring body temperature, washing hands with sanitizer, proactively grasping and implementing instructions for candidates and their families in a thoughtful and effective manner.

“Free meals and accommodation” to support disadvantaged candidates

When the candidates entered the first exam at Dang Thai Mai High School (Thanh Giang Commune, Thanh Chuong District), the local Youth Volunteer Team also started cleaning up to prepare free meals for candidates with difficult circumstances in the area.

It is known that this is a school with many candidates coming from Thanh Long, Thanh Ha, Thanh Giang, Thanh Tung, Thanh Mai, Thanh Xuan and Thanh Lam communes. Many students with difficult circumstances were promptly identified by the Commune Youth Union Executive Committee to make a list and report to the Exam Support Volunteer Team to promptly prepare meals for them.

The organization of free meals for candidates in difficult circumstances is being implemented synchronously and widely in grassroots Youth Union units throughout the province.

Each nutritious meal is meticulously prepared by the union members and youth, from selecting clean ingredients, cooking, packaging, and will be delivered to the candidates after the first exam.

Not only supporting meals, Thanh Chuong District Youth Union also mobilized motel and inn owners around the exam sites to provide free rooms for candidates and their families during the high school graduation exam this year.

Comrade Le Van Dung - Deputy Secretary of Thanh Chuong District Youth Union said that the district has established 6 Youth Volunteer Teams to support at 6 examination sites in the area. Volunteers have coordinated and supported the functional forces to regulate traffic; reminded people to keep a safe distance, supported body temperature measurement, instructed on disinfection; gave masks and drinking water to candidates... At the same time, implemented activities to provide free meals and accommodation for candidates and their families who are not at the examination site.

Besides Thanh Chuong district, activities providing free meals and free accommodation have been implemented synchronously in many Youth Union units throughout the province. In particular, many prominent localities such as Quy Hop, Tuong Duong, Tan Ky, Yen Thanh District Youth Unions... have directed volunteer youth teams to cook and serve thousands of free meals and drinks to candidates with difficult circumstances and living far away to encourage them to do well in the next subjects.

Free hybrid car support candidates

In the mountainous district of Quy Chau, the entire district has one centralized testing site at Quy Chau High School with 482 candidates from 12 communes and towns in the entire locality. To reach the testing site, many candidates from Dien Lam, Chau Hoan, and Chau Thuan communes had to travel dozens of kilometers.

Understanding the difficulties of the students, the Standing Committee of Quy Chau District Youth Union has directed the establishment of 12 free shuttle bus teams in 12 communes and towns of the district and 1 service team at the main exam site. From here, volunteers grasp the needs of the candidates to support them to be present on time for the exam.

In mountainous districts, many candidates have to travel dozens of kilometers to reach the exam location. Therefore, a free shuttle team has been established to help them in time.

For Quynh Luu district, to help candidates who are F1, F2 and located in the blockade area, Quynh Luong Commune Youth Union coordinated with Quynh Luu 3 High School to mobilize transportation businesses in the district to arrange free vehicles for candidates.

Accordingly, 2 F1 candidates were supported by the District Medical Center's vehicle to the examination room; 2 24-seat passenger vans transported 20 F2 candidates and 12 candidates from the blockaded areas in Quynh Minh and Quynh Luong communes to the examination location safely. In addition, 12 Youth Volunteer Teams with 150 volunteers coordinated with relevant forces to support at 5 examination locations in the district.

Meaningful gifts

Accompanying the candidates is not only the support of the volunteer students of the Exam Support Program, but also the small gifts that the volunteers themselves made for the candidates. Despite being psychologically affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the thoughtfulness of the young volunteers has helped the candidates feel secure in conquering the upcoming exams.

Comrade Lu Thi Bang Chau - Secretary of Con Cuong District Youth Union said that the locality has 1 high school graduation exam site taking place at Con Cuong High School. At this exam site, candidates from 13 communes and towns will gather here. Among them, there are many students from remote areas, ethnic minority areas with difficult circumstances.

To encourage the students, volunteers mobilized more than 1,000 masks, 100 water tanks, 500 pencils, erasers... as gifts for the students. The gifts were decorated in a funny and eye-catching way, with words of encouragement attached to them to help them do well on the test. Many candidates were very touched when receiving these gifts from the volunteer team.

To support candidates and their families at the 2021 high school graduation exam sites, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union has directed the establishment of 68 Youth Volunteer Teams operating at 68 exam sites across the province.

On average, each youth volunteer team has 10 - 15 volunteers.
