At nearly 70 years old, MC Lai Van Sam is still young and in love with his discreet wife.

Recently, MC Lai Van Sam shared a happy moment when his family celebrated his birthday in Hoi An. He, his wife and two grandchildren experienced driving a Jeep.

After retiring, MC Lai Van Sam and his son Lai Bac Hai Dang have been more open about their private lives. Before that, the “national MC” was very secretive. Fans were curious about his wife’s appearance but could not get any pictures.

Rarely sharing about his wife, but every time he mentions his wife, MC Lai Van Sam always uses simple but respectful and loving words. Talking about meeting and marrying his wife, Lai Van Sam said that it was the "fate" of his life. Looking back on his journey to becoming a journalist, Lai Van Sam said "it is definitely impossible without the figure of his wife".

He met and fell in love with his wife while studying in Russia. In 1981, Lai Van Sam returned to Vietnam, but at that time the whole country was streamlining its staff, and he could not find a job. Too desperate, Lai Van Sam returned to Russia as an export laborer to work as an interpreter. In 1987, he returned to Vietnam and collaborated with the Sports Department of Vietnam Television as a football commentator and translator of Russian sports news. But after nearly the end of the year, Lai Van Sam fell into unemployment. After that, he had to live by helping his wife's family sell goods at Dong Xuan market.

It was also thanks to helping his mother-in-law sell goods and interpreting for customers that Lai Van Sam was introduced to work at VTV by an acquaintance. Lai Van Sam shared: "If I hadn't met my wife, I might not be as kind as I am now."

Since retiring, MC Lai Van Sam often takes his wife on trips. The two always show affection for each other despite being nearly 70 years old, making their children and grandchildren extremely admire them.

MC Lai Van Sam once shared that after retirement, 100% of his time is spent with his wife.
