Ria Novosti quoted the analysis of German General Harald Kujat - former Chairman of the NATO Military Committee in an interview with HKCM channel, saying that the Russian Armed Forces defeated the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and created a reserve force for a further attack on Odessa.

"The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were huge, especially during the summer offensive. In contrast, the Russian Armed Forces used defensive tactics and switched to strategic defense. Their goal is not to control the territory at any cost, but to destroy the Ukrainian soldiers. This is the basic rule of Clausewitz: disarm the enemy and then everything else will happen by itself. This is exactly what the Russian army has achieved. In recent days, Russia has even talked about active defense. This also means that they are preparing for an attack," General Harald Kujat analyzed.

According to Mr. Kujat, this move explains Russia's shift towards Krasny Liman and Kupyansk. The German general assessed this as a success, and called on the Russian army to focus on this goal.

"I believe that at some point, Russia will really launch a strong attack, because they have concentrated huge forces in the rear. They have formed a new army formation, about 350,000 soldiers. This is a significant force, and this could mean that they are preparing for a major breakthrough," General Kuyat said.

The general did not specify a possible date for the start of the Russian offensive. However, speaking about Moscow's goals, General Kuyat said that Russia would not only advance to the borders of the four new regions, but also liberate Odessa and Transnistria.

"I think they will try to control Odessa, because Russia considers it an important city, with historical elements for Russia. This also means they will try to approach Transnistra. It can be said that this is Russia's minimum option," General Kuyat emphasized.
