(Baonghean.vn) - This morning (June 4), at the Vinh Power Plant National Historical Site, Nghe An Power Company held a memorial ceremony to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the sacrifice of the Vinh Power Plant martyrs.
Attending the ceremony were leaders of Nghe An Electricity, Ha Tinh Electricity, Nghe An Power Transmission, Nghe An High Voltage Grid Branch, former leaders of Vinh Power Plant, Nghe Tinh Electricity Department and all employees of the electricity industry through the periods.

Over the past 80 years, associated with each historical period of the nation and the Soviet homeland, workers of Sifa Power Plant, Vinh Power Plant, Nghe Tinh Electricity Department, Nghe An Electricity Department, Nghe An Electricity Company have achieved many feats with the slogan "Electricity never stops in the heroic Soviet homeland".
During the years of resistance against the US, Vinh power plant was attacked by US aircraft in 297 battles, dropped 2,319 bombs of all kinds, endured 147 rockets, and 65 cannon shots from US warships in the East Sea. The Plant's bomb disposal team neutralized 96 magnetic bombs and demolition bombs, and collected thousands of cluster bombs of all kinds.

On the morning of June 4, 1965, American planes bombed the Vinh Power Plant. A number of officers and workers on duty were injured. The plant was severely damaged and forced to temporarily stop operations. With the determination to restore the power supply, the factory's officers and workers continued to rush to the scene to fix the problem. In the afternoon of the same day, many groups of enemy planes suddenly bombed the plant. There were 8 martyrs who died on the spot and 5 others who died in the following years of the resistance war against the US.
