On the morning of October 13th (corresponding to the 22nd day of the 8th lunar month of the Year of the Snake), a ceremony commemorating the 592nd anniversary of the death of King Le Thai To (1433 - 2025) was held at the King Le Temple historical site in Lam Thanh commune, Nghe An province.

Attending the ceremony were: Mr. Hoang Van Phuc – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Tran Thi Kim Phuong – Director of the Provincial Relics Management Board; leaders of Lam Thanh commune and Hung Nguyen Nam commune, along with a large number of local people and tourists from all over.

At the ceremony, officials, citizens, and tourists had the opportunity to reflect on the history, traditions, merits, and achievements of King Le Thai To.

King Le Thai To, also known as Le Loi, was born on August 6th, 1385 (Year of the Ox) in Lam Son, Tho Xuan, Thanh Hoa. From a young age, Le Loi showed himself to be exceptionally intelligent, courageous, and virtuous, fond of reading and dedicated to military strategy.

In 1416, a momentous event took place in the Lam Son mountain region: Le Loi and 18 of his closest friends, including Nguyen Trai, Le Lai, Nguyen Than, Dinh Le, Nguyen Xi, Tran Nguyen Han, Nguyen Chich, etc., took an oath, cutting their fingers to swear an oath of loyalty, vowing to live and die for the cause of defeating the enemy and saving the country.

On February 7, 1418 (the second day of the Lunar New Year in the year of the Earth Dog), Le Loi and his entire army officially raised the banner of rebellion. Le Loi proclaimed himself Binh Dinh King and issued orders throughout the land, calling on the people to rise up and fight the enemy to save the country. Responding to the banner of rebellion led by their commander Le Loi, heroes, valiant warriors, and ordinary people joined the uprising.patriotismPeople from all over gradually flocked to Lam Son to join the righteous cause.

In 1424, following Nguyen Chich's strategy, Le Loi led his army into Nghe An province. The fame of Le Loi and his rebel army spread to every village and hamlet. Wherever the rebel army went, the people came out to welcome them, offering gifts and encouraging their children to join the fight against the enemy. The victory in Tra Lan, with its devastating impact, thrilled the people and soldiers, paving the way for the rebel army to advance and liberate the Nghe An delta region.

In February 1425, Le Loi led his army down to the Nghe An plain, establishing his headquarters in the Da Loi area and building a strong defensive line on Thien Nhan mountain, known as Luc Nien citadel. From here, the rebel army could oversee a vast area of ​​the Lam River basin and besiege and advance towards liberating Nghe An citadel.

After ten years of hardship and struggle, the resistance war against the Ming invaders, led by Le Loi, culminated in complete victory. On April 15th, 1428 (the year of Mau Than), Le Loi officially ascended the throne at Kinh Thien Palace, Dong Quan Citadel (present-day Hanoi), proclaiming himself King Thuan Thien, naming the country Dai Viet, and issuing the Great Proclamation of Victory over the Ming. Throughout his reign, Le Thai To laid a solid foundation for an entire dynasty and a prosperous, independent nation of Dai Viet.

After six years of reign, King Le Thai To passed away on August 22nd, 1433 (the year of Quy Suu). To commemorate the great contributions of King Le and the heroic martyrs, the people of the former Trieu Khau region (formerly Hung Thanh commune, now Hung Thanh commune) commemorated his death.Lam Thanh(in Nghe An province) built the temple right on the land where Le Loi and his army achieved victory in liberating Nghe An city.
