Korean man sentenced to death for murder and robbery
Defendant Noh Daeryong (Korean nationality) was just sentenced to death by a Vietnamese court after killing his lover and robbing him of his property.
On November 23, Ho Chi Minh City People's Court opened the first instance trial of defendant Noh Daeryong (born 1978, Korean nationality) for the crimes of "Murder" and "Robbery".
At court, defendant Noh Daeryong admitted all the actions he had committed and confessed honestly, but the defendant said he had no intention of killing Ms. H.
Accordingly, Noh Daeryong stated that because Ms. H. cursed and attacked first, the defendant could not control himself and so killed Ms. H.
Noh Daeryong's defense attorney said that this person is in very difficult circumstances and hopes the panel of judges will consider reducing part of his sentence.

After considering all the circumstances of the case, the panel of judges acknowledged the defendant's circumstances. However, the panel of judges found that the defendant's actions were extremely serious, dangerous to society, and the defendant deprived another person of his life.
At the same time, before committing the crime in Vietnam, Noh Daeryong had committed a series of crimes of "Extremely serious rape", "Violating the law on punishment of violent acts", "Road traffic violations", "Rape, robbery", "Sexual violence", "Sexual harassment".
For the above reasons, the panel decided to sentence defendant Noh Daeryong to death for murder and 3 years in prison for robbery. The total sentence the defendant must serve is death.
Regarding civil liability, the defendant is required to compensate the victim's representative 431 million VND.
According to the case, in October 2016, Noh Daeryong and Ms. Nguyen Thi My P. had a romantic relationship with each other. Many times when going out with Noh Daeryong, Ms. P. invited her friend who lived in the same boarding house named Le Thi Ngoc H. to go with her.
After nearly a year of dating, Ms. P. discovered that Noh Daeryong had no job and could not take care of her, so Ms. P. decided to break up. After the breakup, Noh Daeryong returned to his home country and in December 2017, he returned to Vietnam to live.
On the evening of December 31, 2017, Noh Daeryong went to a bar on Bui Vien Street and called Ms. H. to meet him. When Ms. H. returned to her room, Noh Daeryong texted her to ask to stay overnight and Ms. H. agreed.
At the rented room, the two had sex. Afterwards, Ms. H. asked Noh Daeryong to pay her, but Noh Daeryong said no. Angry, Ms. H. brought up Noh Daeryong's past, saying that Ms. P. broke up with him because he had no money.
Hearing that, Noh Daeryong got offended and cursed at Ms. H., leading to a fight between the two. Noh Daeryong pushed Ms. H. down on the bed, covered her mouth and strangled her until she lay motionless.
After committing the crime, Noh Daeryong took the victim's iPhone and left. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact Ms. H., her younger sister called Ms. P. to go to the room to look for her and discovered that Ms. H. was dead.
Through security camera surveillance, police identified Noh Daeryong as the perpetrator and arrested him on the afternoon of January 2, 2018, while he was in a taxi with a friend./.
