The Joint Statement of the Conference affirmed that, in the context of the global economy continuing to face weak aggregate demand, uneven growth and still lower than the level needed to create jobs, the risk of growth decline continues to rise, the APEC region, as the driving force of the world economy, needs to lead the global recovery process towards the goal of strong, sustainable and balanced growth.
The statement stressed the importance of the APEC Finance Ministers’ Process as a forum for regional economies to share experiences, exchange views, build consensus and enhance cooperation. In addition, the Ministers pledged to use this forum more actively and strengthen policy cooperation between APEC Finance Ministers and other multilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the G20.
