Joint statement on the results of the visit to Vietnam of the President of the Republic of Armenia
The two leaders believe that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Armenia will continue to have positive developments.

At the invitation of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang, President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan paid an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from June 7-8, 2012.
During the visit, the Armenian President held talks with President Truong Tan Sang, met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, met with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; laid wreaths at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.
In a friendly atmosphere, the two leaders of Vietnam and Armenia informed each other about the situation in each country, exchanged opinions on the situation and prospects of Vietnam-Armenia cooperation and a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern.
The President of the Republic of Armenia highly appreciated Vietnam’s great achievements in the Doi Moi process, constantly improving the country’s position and prestige in the international arena. The President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam highly appreciated Armenia’s achievements in socio-economic development, maintaining political stability, improving people’s lives, and consolidating its international position.
The Vietnamese side sincerely thanks the Armenian people for their valuable assistance to the Vietnamese people in the cause of national defense and construction.
1. The President of Vietnam highly appreciated the official visit to Vietnam by the President of Armenia, especially at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations, affirming that the visit creates a strong impetus to promote multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
The two leaders agreed that increasing contact and exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, will continuously consolidate and develop the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
2. The two leaders focused on discussing and agreeing on measures to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation; and continue to expand cooperation in potential areas such as agriculture, science and technology, education, tourism, sports, culture and other areas of mutual interest.
The two sides agreed to soon establish an Intergovernmental Committee on economic-trade and scientific-technical cooperation between the two countries to coordinate the implementation of cooperation in specific areas. The two sides acknowledged the importance of preparing to sign a cooperation agreement between the two Chambers of Commerce and Industry to increase delegation exchanges and organize business forums to create conditions for businesses of the two countries to meet, exchange information and explore cooperation opportunities.
3. The President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the President of the Republic of Armenia agreed to continue promoting the completion and development of the legal basis for bilateral cooperation. In that spirit, the two sides welcomed the signing of cooperation documents in the fields of diplomacy, trade and economy, science and technology within the framework of the visit of the President of Armenia.
The two sides agreed that in the coming time they will negotiate and sign agreements in the fields of plant and animal quarantine, mutual recognition of product quality certification, culture, sports, tourism and customs to support bilateral trade activities.
4. The two sides declared mutual recognition of full market economy status.

The two leaders supported the establishment of a fair and democratic world structure based on multilateral principles and international law, respecting the sovereignty and interests of all countries, and the central role of the United Nations in the current international relations system. The two sides believed that efforts should be made to achieve maximum consensus among UN member states on the reform of key UN agencies. The two sides stressed that the international community needs to make more efforts and coordinate more closely to overcome current economic difficulties, improve the world economic and financial structure, and pay due attention to the growing role of developing countries in the world economy.
6. The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the close cooperation between Vietnam and Armenia at the United Nations and international and regional organizations of which both sides are members.
The Armenian side highly appreciated Vietnam’s contribution to ensuring peace, stability and development in Southeast Asia. The Vietnamese side welcomed and affirmed its readiness to act as a bridge to strengthen ASEAN-Armenia cooperation in the future.
7. The two leaders believe that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Armenia will continue to have positive developments, meeting the aspirations and interests of both sides, practically celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Armenia.
8. The two sides highly appreciated the efforts of the Co-Chairs of the Minsk Group (OSCE) on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh and expressed their belief that a comprehensive peaceful solution to the Karabakh conflict should be based on the principles and standards of international law enshrined in the United Nations Charter.
9. President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese side for the warm and friendly reception extended to him and the members of the delegation of the Republic of Armenia and cordially invited President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang to pay an official visit to Armenia at a convenient time. President Truong Tan Sang cordially thanked and accepted the invitation. The time of the visit will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels./.
