Vietnam women's volleyball team has a great chance to participate in the 2025 world championship, only needs 1 condition
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team is currently ranked 32nd in the world but still has hope of participating in the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship.
The Women's Volleyball World Championship is one of the biggest and most prestigious tournaments in women's volleyball. This is the tournament that brings together the strongest international teams in the world.
Since 2025, the tournament has 32 competing teams instead of 24 teams like previous tournaments. According to the regulations of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the 32 participating teams include the defending champion (Serbia), the host team, the top 3 teams of the European Championship, the top 3 teams of the Asian Championship, the top 3 teams of South America, the top 3 teams of North America, the top 3 teams of Africa and the 15 teams with the highest ranking on the FIVB rankings but not in the top 3 leading teams in the continents and regions.
16 teams have been confirmed to qualify for the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, including defending champion Serbia and 15 teams from the top 3 leading teams in continents and regions including Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and North America.

The remaining 16 spots, including the spot for the host country and 15 spots for the teams with the highest ranking positions on the FIVB rankings but not in the top 3 of the above continents and regions, have not yet been officially determined.
According to the latest FIVB rankings, the lowest-ranked team among the 15 teams qualified for the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship is Romania, currently ranked 30th in the world.
The Vietnam team, currently ranked 32nd in the world, is certainly not qualified to participate in the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship if considering the criteria of ranking position on the FIVB rankings.
But we still have a chance to participate in this big tournament if we are chosen as the host of the tournament or if Thailand is the host of the tournament. If FIVB chooses Vietnam to host the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship (this possibility is very unlikely because Vietnam's current infrastructure is not up to the mark), we will participate in the tournament as the host team.
Another more likely possibility is that FIVB chooses Thailand as the host of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship (Thailand is qualified to host the tournament), then the Thai team will participate in the tournament as the host and Thailand's participation spot as one of the top 3 teams in the 2023 Asian Championship will be transferred to the Vietnamese team (4th place in Asia 2023).
Currently, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam all want to host the 2025 world championship, but FIVB has not yet decided which country to choose.
Thus, if Thailand is chosen to host the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, the Vietnamese team will qualify for this major tournament.
