Commending 140 Nghe An students with high achievements in the 2016-2017 school year

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of August 26, the Provincial Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee of Nghe An province held a ceremony to commend and award excellent international, regional and national students and students with high scores in the 2017 National High School Exam. This is the 8th consecutive year Nghe An has organized a commendation ceremony to promptly commend and honor the outstanding achievements of students, encouraging the movement of good teaching - good learning in schools.

The 2016 - 2017 school year is the year that Nghe An education sector has achieved the highest results ever with 7 students participating in International and Regional Olympic Competitions all achieving high prizes, including 2 Gold Medals in the International Mathematics and Physics Olympiad of Nguyen Canh Hoang and Tran Huu Binh Minh, 2 Silver Medals in the International Physics and Chemistry Olympiad of Phan Tuan Linh and Hoang Nghia Tuyen, 1 First Prize in the International Russian Essay Writing Competition of Truong Thi Khanh Huyen.

In addition, students Tran Huu Binh Minh and Phan Tuan Linh also won 1 Silver Medal and 1 Encouragement Prize at the Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad. All are students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

In addition, Nghe An has 94 students achieving national excellent results in cultural subjects and science and technology innovation competitions with 10 first prizes, 29 second prizes, 31 third prizes, and 24 consolation prizes. The whole province also has 63 students recognized for high scores in the National High School Exam, including 2 students achieving national valedictorians in Block B and Block C.

In particular, among the students with high scores this year, not only in specialized schools, schools in cities, towns, and favorable areas, but also in rural areas, mountainous areas, areas with especially difficult economic conditions, ethnic minority students such as: Bac Yen Thanh High School, Nam Yen Thanh, Do Luong 3, Do Luong 4, Thanh Chuong 3, Dien Chau 3, Nghi Loc 3, Tan Ky, Co Do, Ethnic Boarding School 2 Nghe An, etc.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh warmly congratulated the excellent achievements and praised the spirit of effort and determination to study and practice of the students and teachers. In order to promptly commend the students' excellent academic achievements, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit to the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted; 5 students who won international prizes and teachers who directly trained them; students who achieved national excellent students and 63 students who achieved high scores in the National High School Exam. The total amount of rewards is nearly 2.5 billion VND.

On this occasion, TH Group also awarded 265 million VND to students and teachers with high achievements in Regional and International Olympic Competitions. Of which, 160 million VND was awarded as scholarships to 4 students Tran Huu Binh Minh, Nguyen Canh Hoang, Phan Tu Linh and Hoang Nghia Tuyen to study 4 years at universities with a support of 1 million VND/month.
