Honoring 400 advanced models: Each shining example is a great strength

The General Secretary emphasized that each good deed and each noble gesture practically contributes to building a good moral foundation in society.

On the occasion of the 69th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948 - June 11, 2017), this morning (June 10), at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, Hanoi, the Central Emulation and Reward Council held a ceremony to honor outstanding examples nationwide. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong attended and delivered an important speech at the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and nearly 400 advanced models - the bright flowers in the patriotic emulation movement throughout the country.

Of the 400 typical and advanced delegates honored at this Commendation Ceremony, collective delegates accounted for nearly 12%, individuals accounted for more than 88%, of which nearly 90% of the delegates were people who were directly working, producing and fighting. These are typical examples, bright flowers in the garden of patriotic emulation, representing millions of outstanding individuals and collectives in all regions of the country who are tirelessly researching, studying, working and producing day and night, making positive contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Speaking at the Commendation Ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong warmly welcomed and commended the exemplary delegates being commended this time, and highly appreciated the results that the patriotic emulation movement and emulation and reward work have achieved in recent years.

According to the General Secretary, 69 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh issued a call for patriotic emulation. He said: “Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation; those who emulate are the most patriotic.” Since then, his patriotic emulation ideology has become a revolutionary movement of the masses, a driving force that has continuously pushed our entire Party, people and army to achieve victory in the struggle for national independence, national reunification and in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the socialist Fatherland.

In 2016 and the first months of 2017, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the joint efforts, our country has still achieved many important results in most fields. Among those achievements, there is a great contribution from the patriotic emulation movement, including the important contribution of the delegates honored today.

Through the practice of emulation movements, there have been more and more advanced and typical examples in various areas of social life, with many topics, initiatives, and useful solutions, benefiting the State and society with thousands of billions of VND; many models and solutions have been replicated, with widespread impacts throughout the country. The General Secretary was very pleased and impressed by the noble deeds and actions mentioned in the Emulation Council's Report along with many films and stories about the typical examples that were exchanged and honored today.

The General Secretary believes that: “In addition to the 400 advanced models attending the Honoring Ceremony at this Conference, there are many other silent examples in many fields, in all regions of the country, among all classes of people, including our compatriots working, studying and living abroad.”

The General Secretary emphasized that what needs to be analyzed more deeply is that behind the typical advanced examples, behind the good deeds are the hearts of patriotism, love for the regime, respect for sentiment, mutual love and affection for compatriots, comrades and teammates; enriching the homeland, is the will to rise up and grasp new knowledge about science and technology to work with high productivity, quality and efficiency.

Believing that the results achieved are only the result of initial efforts, and that the road ahead is still long and arduous, the General Secretary requested that the individuals and collectives that were honored continue to strive, constantly improve, maintain their titles, and maintain the love of society.

“I request that each collective and individual honored today not be complacent or satisfied, but continue to strive, constantly improve, contribute more, achieve even greater achievements, and be worthy of being a shining example for everyone to follow forever,” the General Secretary emphasized.

According to the General Secretary, a good example is a great power. President Ho Chi Minh said: "A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches". If you are a scientist, a manager, a leader, you must work hard, think day and night, worry, and find creative ways to promote your work. If you are an ordinary worker, you must be wholeheartedly devoted to achieving the highest productivity, quality, and efficiency, and make the greatest contribution. Each good deed, each noble gesture practically contributes to building a good moral foundation in our society, contributing to making our lives better and happier.

The General Secretary requested the Central Emulation and Reward Council, the Central Emulation and Reward Board, ministries, departments, branches, localities, the Fatherland Front and people's organizations from the central to grassroots levels to organize many vibrant and widespread emulation movements to arouse patriotism and national pride, promote the revolutionary movement to achieve the set goals and tasks, so that cadres, civil servants and public employees of the entire political system can join in, take the lead in patriotic emulation movements, make the emulation movement take place in a practical manner, and emulation and reward work become the driving force to promote the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, for the goal of building a Vietnam of "rich people, strong country, fairness, democracy and civilization".

At the Commendation Ceremony, the audience had the opportunity to meet and interact with many examples who, despite difficulties, hardships and dangers, worked hard and creatively day and night, contributing their efforts to the prosperity of their homeland and country. Such as Mr. Tran Huu Hau - who effectively applied digitalization of administrative procedures in Tay Ninh, Mr. Vu Van Bang in Di Linh district, Lam Dong province with a highly effective durian monoculture model; Doctor Tran Ngoc Luong, Director of the Central Endocrinology Hospital, who created the endoscopic thyroid surgery method that is considered the most perfect in the world today; or Ms. Dang Ai Viet, who traveled across the three regions of the country to draw more than 1,000 portraits of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.../.
