Brave and selfless action for the sick
As reported by Nghe An Newspaper, Radio and Television: At 10:00 a.m. on October 23, at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, an incident occurred where a patient's family member used a weapon to attack the patient, the patient's family member and medical staff on duty at the Neonatal Department.
Accordingly, the subject Ban Van Vy (born in 1996, from Bac Ninh province, residing in Que Phong commune, Nghe An province), the husband of the pregnant woman LTK, brought a knife into room 304, attacking his wife and biological child, but the pregnant woman LTK avoided it.

Then, this subject rushed in and strangled a newborn baby girl, the daughter of Ms. NTL. Grandmother Phan Thi Tu carried her granddaughter around the hospital room and was chased by this subject, who stabbed her in the arm and back with a knife.
At this time, nurse Nguyen Thi Nhung (born in 1994; is a nurse in the Pediatrics Department, Do Luong General Hospital, currently participating in training at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital) was on duty in the hospital room and stood up to prevent; creating conditions for nurse Phan Thi Oanh to rush in and hug the newborn baby girl, mother NTL, and escape from room 304.
Standing up to stop the attack on the child, nurse Nguyen Thi Nhung was controlled, held down and stabbed 3 times in the back and arm by Ban Van Vy.

After seriously injuring the medical staff, Ban Van Vy continued to hold NTD's newborn baby with the intention of throwing the baby out the window. To prevent the act, the patient's family member, Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Thuy, jumped in to fight to get the baby back, but was stabbed in the neck by Ban Van Vy with a knife.
At this time, the Neonatal Department nurse Tran Thi Hong (born in 1988) was in another patient room. Hearing the screams, she promptly ran over to retrieve the baby and escaped to the department's nursing duty room with the support of nurse Nguyen Thi Hong (born in 1989).
Seeing the subject attacking the patient, the patient's family, medical staff, nurses Nguyen Thuy Trang (born in 1988), Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai (born in 1995) and medical staff working in this area urgently went in to support the rescue and evacuation of the patient and his family; at the same time, called the bodyguards and reported directly to superiors for support. It is known that in room 304 at this time there were 28 people (including 14 pediatric patients).

At this time, the suspect Ban Van Vy moved out into the hallway, stabbed nurse Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai in the stomach while she was helping evacuate her family; attacked, chased and controlled nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang into the nursing duty room of the Neonatal Department.
At the nursing room of the Neonatal Department, Ban Van Vy continued to stab nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang many times with a knife until hospital staff and security arrived at the scene to assist.
At 10:05 a.m., hospital administrative staff Luu Xuan Dung and hospital security guard Tran Kim Quyen went to the nursing room of the Neonatal Department to persuade Ban Van Vy to stop, creating conditions for nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang to escape.
Next, Mr. Luu Xuan Dung and Tran Kim Quyen locked the nursing room of the Neonatal Department, creating conditions for the police force to come and control and arrest the subject Ban Van Vy.
'If there was a similar situation, we would do the same!'
Bravely and selflessly rushing in to stop the attack on the patient and the patient's family, nurses Nguyen Thuy Trang, Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, and Nguyen Thi Nhung were seriously stabbed by Ban Van Vy; nurses Tran Thi Hong, Nguyen Thi Hong, and Phan Thi Oanh suffered minor injuries.

Nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang was the most seriously injured, with 11 stab wounds to the face, neck, chest, and back. One of the stabs penetrated the lung, severed the external jugular vein, and severed a branch of the right subclavian artery.
At this time, thanks to timely treatment, the victims of the attack and assassination at Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital have all passed the critical stage, their lives are saved, but they are still in a state of more or less psychological trauma.
However, when asked "if a similar situation were to happen, would you still be willing to rush in to save the patient?", all the nurses answered firmly: "If a similar situation were to happen, we would do the same!""

Nurse Nguyen Thi Nhung shared: “When I saw my family and the child being attacked, I didn’t have time to think. My instinct urged me to rush in to stop them and save the patient. That must be the instinct of a medical professional.”
Nurse Tran Thi Hong also said: “At that time, I was taking care of the babies in the room next door when I heard a loud scream. Running over, I saw a man holding a newborn baby, lifting it up high as if he wanted to throw it out the window. I rushed in, grabbed the baby, hugged it, and ran outside. I don't know why I was so quick and decisive at that moment... I think any medical staff would have acted like me. We cannot ignore the health and life of the patient.”
