Commendation and reward for excellent students and students with high scores in university entrance exams

(Baonghean.vn) -On the evening of August 30, at the Provincial Labor Culture House, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a ceremony to commend and award excellent international, regional and national students and students with high scores in the University and College entrance exams of the 2012-2013 school year.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Education and Training; representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training.

This is the 5th year that the Provincial People's Committee has organized this meaningful activity to encourage and motivate the learning spirit of students and the teaching staff, while affirming the tradition of studiousness of Nghe An. This year, among the 325 students with high achievements in the exams commended and awarded by the Provincial People's Committee, there are 2 students who won Asian prizes, 73 students are national excellent students, 250 students achieved high scores in the university entrance exam, of which 118 students took the A, B exams with 27 points or more, 132 students took the C, D exams with 24 points or more; 9 students were valedictorians at universities.

In order to encourage and reward the excellent achievements of students and teachers who directly trained them, the People's Committee of Nghe An province awarded certificates of merit along with a total bonus of more than 2.4 billion VND to students who won national prizes, students with high scores in the University entrance exam and more than 250 million VND to teachers who have achieved excellent results in training excellent students. On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee also presented gifts worth 42 million VND to 14 students in the Northern Central provinces studying at Vinh University High School for the Gifted who had excellent achievements in the recent University entrance exam. Previously, Dinh Le Cong - a math student at Vinh University High School for the Gifted who won the Silver Medal in International Mathematics was also awarded 10 million VND by the Provincial People's Committee.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the achievements that the provincial education sector has achieved in the past school year, praised the efforts and struggles of students and teachers in teaching and learning, and the excellent achievements they have achieved in exams. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that students of Nghe An will continue to promote the tradition of studiousness of their homeland, strive to "study well, take good exams", and develop their intelligence to contribute to the construction of their homeland and the country. He called on teachers and officials of the provincial education sector to uphold their sense of responsibility, cultivate knowledge and capacity, and devote themselves to the cause of educating the young generation.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education and Nghe An Province Association also awarded more than 200 million VND to poor students who achieved high results in the university entrance exams in the 2012-2013 school year.
