Vietnam team officially won ticket to quarter-finals of Asian Futsal tournament
(Baonghean.vn) - Despite losing 1-2 to host Thailand, the Vietnamese futsal team still earned 4 points and ranked second in Group A, thereby winning the second ticket to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship.
On the evening of April 21, the Vietnamese futsal team faced the host team Thailand in the third match of Group A of the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship finals.
Host Thailand is considered the strongest team in the group, leading Group A with 2 wins in a row. Therefore, Vietnam only needs a draw in this match to win the second place in Group A to advance, but in reality, this is not easy because the opponent Thailand also wants to show its strength.

In this match, Vietnam still fielded the familiar starting lineup with goalkeeper Van Y and 4 players Doan Phat, Anh Duy, Minh Quang, Thinh Phat.
In the first minute, the host Thailand had a chance to get close to goalkeeper Van Y's goal, fortunately their shot was inaccurate.
Facing a very strong Thailand, coach Diego Giustorri's players were forced to play close to defend against their attacks, so during the first 5 minutes, Vietnam had almost no shots on goalie Senbat. On the contrary, the team from the land of the golden pagoda had at least 4 opportunities to make things difficult for Vietnam's goalkeeper Van Y, but he was still a solid support for his teammates.
More than half of the first half, the score was still 0-0, although Vietnam had to endure great pressure from the opponent and the attacks were not as expected. However, in the 12th minute of the first half, after a series of attacks, goalkeeper Van Y had to go into the net to pick the ball and the one who opened the score 1-0 for the Thai futsal team was Osamanmusa.

The pressure did not decrease after the home team opened the score, but goalkeeper Ho Van Y and his teammates still stood firm. In the 17th minute, Vietnam had a chance to besiege goalkeeper Senbat's goal, but unfortunately the goal still did not come. A minute later, Gia Hung continued to have a very dangerous pass to Thai Huy right in front of Thailand's goal, but he could not get his foot in time to equalize.
In the first minute of the second half, Minh Quang had a tricky shot that forced goalkeeper Senbat to pick up the ball. The match returned to the starting line. The equalizer helped coach Diego Giustorri's players to be more excited and launch a more stable attack, but the home team's pressure was still very high.

In the 25th to 29th minutes, Gia Hung and Minh Quang had consecutive chances to increase the score for Vietnam, but the home team's goalkeeper Senbat was very alert to save the situation. While playing slowly, Thailand suddenly exploded in the 29th minute and Srirangpirot took advantage of Thinh Phat's loss of the ball to score a goal to increase the score to 2-1. The unexpected loss confused the Vietnamese players, so the attack phases were slower.
In that situation, goalkeeper Ho Van Y became a great stopper of Vietnam futsal when he continuously saved his team. The pressure was continuously created by the host Thailand, but Vietnam futsal still tried to keep the ball to not give the opponent a chance to launch an attack in order to keep this result, because coach Diego Giustorri and his team had an advantage over their opponent Myanmar when they ended the match with a 3-1 victory over China.

Winning a ticket to the quarterfinals as the second place in Group A, the Vietnamese futsal team will face the first team in Group B in the quarterfinals. The matches in Group B will start at 9:00 p.m. tonight, April 21.
The quarter-final match will take place on April 24 and Vietnam’s opponent will likely be the Uzbekistan futsal team. This will continue to be an extremely difficult challenge for Vietnam on the road to winning a ticket to the World Cup./.
