Vietnam team - Thailand 1-3: No regrets
The Vietnamese team said goodbye to the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 after losing 1-3 to Thailand in the final group stage match last night. Fans were sad, but certainly no one felt regretful.

This outcome was predicted before the ball rolled, even though the Thai team only played with a squad consisting of many reserve players and did not seem too keen on winning or losing in a match that was only a formality for them.
But to be fair, compared to the two opening matches against Myanmar and the Philippines, the Vietnamese team started the game well, playing more smoothly and coherently. Even in the 7th minute, the Vietnamese team almost opened the score after Cao Sy Cuong's free kick from outside the 16.50m box hit the crossbar of the Thai team. If only in the two matches against Myanmar and the Philippines, the Vietnamese team had started the game as well as in the match against Thailand, things wouldn't have turned out so badly...
In a match where many Vietnamese fans believed their team would get a favorable result, goalkeeper Hong Son's net was unexpectedly shaken in the 21st minute. From an attack on the right flank, Apipoo passed the ball inside. The white shirts handled the ball awkwardly, allowing Kirati to easily tap the ball into the empty net. In the 65th minute, things became even more difficult for the Vietnamese team when Kirati flew to head the ball to raise the score to 2-0 for Thailand. Before that, the Philippines team had scored the opening goal against Myanmar.
In the 71st minute, midfielder Arthit (Thailand) received a red card and left the field. Immediately after that, striker Van Quyet flew to head the ball from a free kick to help Vietnam reduce the gap to 1-2. However, all hopes of the Vietnamese team were completely extinguished after a corner kick, Kirati jumped high to head the ball, the ball fell down and hit the foot of center back Gia Tu and went into the goal.
Outside the stadium, coach Phan Thanh Hung stood still. Goalkeeper Hong Son, center back Gia Tu... bowed their heads. The loud cheers of the home team Thailand's fans in the Rajamangala stadium made the atmosphere on the Vietnamese side even more depressing.
Before the match with Thailand, although we knew that reaching the semi-finals was as difficult as picking stars from the sky, when the final whistle sounded at Rajamangala Stadium, the fans were still sad. However, if you have watched the three matches of the Vietnam team in the group stage of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, surely no one will regret it.
People just regret that they placed too much hope on the team...
Philippines enters semi-finals for second time
The Philippines defeated Myanmar 2-0 at Supachalas Stadium. The Philippines' two goals were scored by strikers Phil Younghusband and Angel Guirado in the 47th and 90+3 minutes. This victory helped the Philippines rank second in the group with 6 points and reach the semi-finals for the second time in history. Vietnam had the same number of points as Myanmar but ranked third thanks to a better goal difference (-3 compared to -6).
