"Whistle"... for fun!?
(Baonghean) -No one can deny the many positive changes from recent efforts in education reform. On a general level, the overall picture of schools has been steadily showing bright colors. People have also gradually felt many profound changes, quietly pushing back the serious, deep-rooted diseases of this field. People believe in a new, quiet but effective way of doing things; a better future for the country's education.
However, in the journey to conquer obstacles, bold but cautious steps are more necessary. Educational management is like that, its impact and spread do not coexist with any hasty subjective decision. That is why the story of "closing" 207 enrollment codes of the Ministry of Education and Training for many universities recently immediately created public opinion!
People have not discussed much about the right or wrong of the problem, but are very concerned about the reasonableness and appropriateness of this "punishment" of the document, which is considered quite "strong". First of all, let's talk about the timing. When the students had started to "draft" their application forms, suddenly, the information was announced. With just over 2 months left, they would officially write their names on a lifelong choice, their plans, their cherished hopes, their expectations, and even their calculations were suddenly at risk of going up in smoke. Many students were worried, confused, and extremely confused by a decision that had a direct impact on them, and the cause was completely due to "adults". How could they feel at ease, could they wholeheartedly devote themselves to studying, when their future was decided so quickly in such a "fallen from the sky" way? Immediately, hundreds of newspapers published this information. Public opinion began to heat up the story. Not only students but also thousands of parents were in a "dilemma" when they were unable to share with their children, in order to make the most correct decision.
The universities in the "red light" group also reacted quickly by simultaneously "fighting and crying out for justice". Along with the whole country, in our province, there are 2 schools, Vinh University also spoke up "due to a mistake", while Vinh University of Technical Education affirmed that "the Ministry did not know to add"... The school names and major codes were "updated" continuously. More surprisingly, in this list there were familiar names, even long-standing reputations. The public was shocked, "only when the house is on fire do the rats come out", thinking that the story of not having enough permanent lecturers only revolved around some schools. So, the students who have been worried for a long time now have to add to themselves the worry about the quality of teachers and the quality of the school?
Faced with this vital “life”, helpless before the unconvincing explanations, reactions have appeared somewhere. It is not strange, because if we just “suppress” the standards and deal with them, we will even have to sympathize with schools that have almost completely stopped enrolling students (for example, Ha Tinh University). Some opinions have hinted that someone “draws a circle and then steps on it”! When evaluating to “promote” to become a university, it must have been very elaborate and methodical, but now, after several years of “building and growing”, suddenly there are records that only meet the standards… to be declared dead. People who care about education have taken turns speaking out, some supporting but also some wondering. Supporting because, after all, this is a correct policy, accompanying a better ambition for the quality of university education, contributing to gradually getting closer to regional and international standards. Still wondering, because the way of doing things seems to lack a suitable roadmap, and the time of announcement easily makes people think of a "surprise attack" by the management agency?
When the future fate of schools and majors has not yet been decided, in the face of public concern, the management agency has finally spoken up. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when hearing the news, the announcement specifically naming the school and the major is only a "warning", so that schools can take care of themselves and make corrections! So there is still "space" for schools to manage and especially luck for students when the exam season is near. However, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, Director of the Department of Higher Education Bui Anh Tuan also said that the Ministry's viewpoint is to handle it seriously and resolutely. If schools can overcome their violations, they will continue to allow enrollment. By 2015, if any school cannot overcome them, the Ministry will resolutely revoke the decision. So it is clear, the remaining time is not too much, there is no other way but to resolutely find a solution to overcome them. The Ministry has confirmed that, surely in 2015, it will do it for real, not just "blowing the whistle" for fun!
