USD exchange rate today April 15, 2025: The USD has increased in value again after a week of sharp decline. The central exchange rate announced by the State Bank decreased slightly by 37 VND, currently at 24,886 VND/USD

The central exchange rate announced by the State Bank decreased slightly by 37 VND, currently at 24,886 VND/USD. However, at commercial banks, the USD price increased sharply.

At Vietcombank, the buying and selling rates increased by 80 VND, reaching 25,610 - 26,000 VND/USD.

Meanwhile, the lowest cash USD buying price is currently 25,340 VND/USD at VIB, and the highest is 25,645 VND/USD at BIDV and Sacombank.

The lowest selling price is 25,760 VND/USD at VIB, the highest is 26,030 VND/USD at Eximbank, SCB and ABBank.

In the free market, the USD price also increased slightly. The “black market” transaction recorded 26,027 VND/USD for buying and 26,127 VND/USD for selling, up 7 VND compared to yesterday.

The USD's rebound may reflect a recovery in investor sentiment after a period of strong volatility.

On the world market on April 15, 2025, the Dollar Index (DXY) measuring the strength of the USD against 6 major currencies slightly decreased to 99.61 points, down 0.17 points compared to yesterday.

According to Bilal Hafeez, CEO of Macro Hive, the US dollar has suffered a sharp decline in the past week, reaching four standard deviations. If this is just a temporary phenomenon, the US dollar could recover, but if it is a sign of a structural change like the post-Bretton Woods period in the early 1970s, all predictions could be broken.

In the currency market, the euro fell 0.26% to $1.1331 after hitting a peak of $1.1473 last Friday, its highest since February 2022.

Against the Japanese yen, the dollar edged up 0.08 percent to 143.61 yen. It had earlier hit a low of 142.05 yen, its lowest since September.

The US dollar also rose sharply against the Swiss franc, reaching 0.824 francs, equivalent to a gain of 1.07%. In contrast, the British pound rose 0.61% to 1.3159 USD, while the Australian dollar also increased 0.16% to 0.6295 USD, extending last week's more than 4% gain.

The offshore yuan fell 0.42% to 7.312 CNY/USD, after hitting a record low last week. Meanwhile, in the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin continued its rally, currently at $84,461, up 1.17%.
