USD exchange rate today October 21, 2024: The State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong to the USD at: 24,213 VND. The USD Index (DXY) stands at 103.46.
World USD exchange rate
The US Dollar Index (DXY) is trending up, reaching 103.46, up 0.6% for the week. The increase is supported by positive economic data from the US, such as retail sales.
Despite a slight pullback at the end of the week due to China and US housing data, the overall uptrend remains intact. The DXY is likely to hit resistance at 104, but a correction to 103-102.70 is possible before rising further to 105-105.50.
The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note remains around 4%, with the nearest resistance at 4.12%. If it falls below 4%, it is likely to fall further to 3.85%-3.8%.
In contrast, the EUR continued to decline, hitting a low of 1.0811. The EUR is expected to weaken, possibly falling below 1.08 and hitting the support level of 1.0750 before recovering to 1.09-1.0950.
In summary, the DXY index and US bond yields have a positive outlook, while the EUR faces bearish pressure in the short term.

Domestic USD exchange rate
The State Bank has set the central exchange rate at 24,213 VND per USD. Commercial banks can trade USD between 23,002 and 25,423 VND, according to the +/-5% margin.
The reference buying and selling rates at the State Bank's Transaction Office are currently 23,400 and 25,373 VND respectively.
Vietcombank currently lists USD prices from 24,950 to 25,340 VND, down 30 VND compared to this morning.
VietinBank recorded the buying rate at 24,820 VND and the selling rate at 25,320 VND.
Techcombank's buying and selling prices for USD are 24,902 and 25,423 VND respectively.
Eximbank listed the USD/VND exchange rate for this morning's trading session from 24,990 to 25,380 VND.
On the free market, the USD/VND exchange rate this morning was from 25,260 to 25,360 VND, up 10 VND compared to yesterday. The USD buying price on the free market was 440 VND higher than the lowest level at banks. However, the selling price of banks was only about 40 VND higher than the free market.
