USD exchange rate today December 3, 2024: USD recovers to 106 mark

USD exchange rate today in the world

This morning, the USD on the world market reversed and increased in the international payment basket compared to before. Specifically, the Dollar-Index - measuring the strength of the greenback compared to 6 major currencies increased by 0.61% to 106.380 points at 6:44 am this morning (Hanoi time).

The US dollar closed the trading session on Friday up against other currencies after a decline in the first week. New data released once again showed that the US economy is recovering, with US manufacturing activity improving in November. Accordingly, the Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing PMI index rose from 46.5 in October to 48.4 in November, which is the lowest level since July 2023.

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller also noted that the Fed’s December rate cut at its policy meeting was essentially unchanged. Following Waller’s comments, the market raised the odds of a 25 basis point easing this month to 79%, up from 66% late last week.

In addition, on November 30, President-elect Donald Trump asked BRICS member countries to commit to not creating a new currency or supporting another currency to replace the USD.

The euro fell 1% to $1.0469 in early trading, and is now on track for its biggest one-day drop since early November.

Against the Japanese yen, the dollar fell 0.2% to 149.37 USD, after falling 3.3% last week, marking the biggest drop since July. Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said, after data showed inflation in Tokyo picked up in October, the next interest rate hike is coming amid economic data moving in the right direction.

The reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam is listed at 23,400 - 25,450 VND/USD (buy - sell), unchanged in both buying and selling compared to the previous session.

Commercial banks reduced the buying and selling prices of USD compared to the previous session. Specifically, the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank listed the buying and selling prices of USD at 25,119 - 25,452 VND/USD, down 11 VND/USD for buying and selling compared to the previous session.

BIDV listed the USD buying and selling prices at 25,150 - 25,452 VND/USD, down 10 VND/USD for buying and down 11 VND/USD for selling compared to the previous session.

At Vietinbank, the listed USD buying and selling prices are at 25,155 - 25,452 VND/USD, down 5 VND/USD for buying and down 11 VND/USD for selling compared to the previous session.

Eximbank listed the USD buying and selling prices at 25,150 - 25,452 VND/USD, an increase of 30 VND/USD for buying and a decrease of 11 VND/USD for selling compared to the previous session.

The USD exchange rate in the free market this morning decreased sharply compared to the previous session. At the Hanoi market, at 6:42 a.m., the USD was traded (buying - selling) at around 25,574 - 25,684 VND/USD, down 33 VND/USD for buying and down 23 VND/USD for selling compared to the same trading time yesterday morning.
