(Baonghean.vn) -The Republican Party continues to worry as presidential candidate Donald Trump did not hesitate to respond to criticism from the US Trade Representative regarding his campaign platform, which includes opposing free trade agreements.

At a campaign rally in Bangor, Maine on June 29, Trump asserted that the US Trade Representative's view that his campaign platform would cause a trade war was "incorrect" because for many years, the US has been in a state of budget deficit.

The Republican candidate frankly said that America is currently on the losing side in trade wars.

Previously, the US Chamber of Commerce - a lobbying organization representing the largest businesses and always advocating for the Republican Party's trade policies - criticized Mr. Trump's anti-free trade stance, saying that these were "dangerous" ideas that could push the US into another recession.

Not only that, the real estate tycoon also shocked the world when he criticized the largest business association in the US as being completely under the control of a group of people who "don't care about anyone else".

Billionaire Trump said the organization needs to "fight harder" for workers' rights and new trade deals need to be carefully discussed to avoid the US being "overtaken" when its partners are gaining the upper hand.

The spat between Mr. Trump and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce once again shows the huge challenge for the real estate tycoon in “winning over” Republican members and strengthening internal cohesion as the national party convention approaches.

In addition, the shocking statements are likely to cause Trump to lose great support from the American business community because Republicans and leaders of large businesses have close relationships and share similar views on trade policies.

Not only that, many businesses have a voice in Republican politics with significant contributions to this party's candidates.
