U17 Song Lam Nghe An was held to a draw by U17 PVF-CAND, fans strongly protested the referee

On the afternoon of August 28, the qualifying round of the 2025 National U17 Championship entered the second leg with Group B matches taking place at the PVF Youth Football Training Center. The 6 participating teams include: PVF-CAND, SHB Da Nang, Luxury Ha Long, Dong A Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong and Song Lam Nghe An.

The highlight is the clash between host U17 PVF-CAND and U17 Song Lam Nghe An. These are two teams with equal strength, rich traditions and are considered strong candidates for the ticket to the next round.

Before the match, U17 PVF-CAND was leading the table, while U17 SLNA was temporarily ranked second with 8 points, equal to U17 Dong A Thanh Hoa but with a better goal difference. Therefore, this confrontation is pivotal for the chance to continue for coach Hai Nam and his team.

U17 SLNA launched their strongest lineup with a 4-1-4-1 formation. Right from the first minutes, the Nghe An team entered the game proactively, controlled the ball well and organized attacks in the middle.

They created many opportunities in the first half, notably Minh Loi's shot that missed the post in the 34th minute.

After many efforts, the turning point came in the 43rd minute, from a pass by Van Lam, striker Van Sang escaped and shot diagonally, opening the score 1-0 for U17 SLNA. The first half ended with the advantage leaning towards the away team.

In the second half, U17 SLNA took the initiative to retreat deep, waiting for a counter-attack opportunity. In the 65th minute, Viet Duy dribbled skillfully and then fired a decisive shot, but the ball went wide of the goal. A few minutes later, he continued to shoot against the crossbar, missing the opportunity to double the gap.

The drama was pushed up in the 74th minute. Player Tuan Kiet (PVF-CAND) fell in the penalty area after dribbling, the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. This decision met with strong reactions from the coaching staff and many SLNA fans present on the field, saying that this was a "fake fall" situation. However, the referee did not change his decision. At the 11m mark, Anh Khoa calmly defeated goalkeeper Van Huy, equalizing 1-1 for U17 PVF-CAND.

In the remaining minutes, U17 SLNA tried to attack to find the decisive goal but failed. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. With this result, U17 SLNA had 9 points after 6 matches, continuing to hold the second position in Group B. However, losing points in an advantageous position, along with the controversy over the referee's decision, made Nghe An fans regretful and indignant.
