U19 Vietnam has a wide open door to the semi-finals after crushing U19 Singapore
The 6-0 victory on the afternoon of August 29 brought U19 Vietnam to the top of Group B of the U19 Southeast Asian tournament with seven points after three matches, scoring eight goals and not conceding a single goal.
Entering the match with U19 Singapore, coach Hoang Anh Tuan made many changes compared to the goalless draw with U19 Malaysia. Not only did he change the tactical formation from 3-5-1-1 to 4-4-2, the Khanh Hoa captain also left a series of stars such as Lam Thuan, Thanh Hau, Quang Hai on the bench to give opportunities to Minh Di, Tien Linh...
Facing a very weak U19 Singapore team, who had not won any points after two matches, U19 Vietnam had no difficulty in gaining control of the game. The match was one-sided, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team attacked, while the opponent could only brace themselves to defend, rarely having counter-attacks but not creating any danger.

Continuously pressing, in the 18th minute, U19 Vietnam opened the score. Mistaffa fouled Minh Di when the Vietnamese player quickly escaped to receive a long pass from Trong Dai. The referee immediately blew the whistle and pointed to the penalty spot. Duc Chinh's gentle shot fooled the opposing goalkeeper, helping U19 Vietnam take the lead.
Minh Di was the most outstanding player in the first half. Not only did he bring home the aforementioned penalty kick, in the 32nd minute, he also directly doubled the gap. After a pass-and-go with Duy Khanh, the left winger fired a powerful long-range shot that the opposing goalkeeper, despite touching the ball, could not save.
Leading by two goals, U19 Vietnam was in a relaxed mood and played much more clearly. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players coordinated well and continuously created situations that threatened Rohaizad's goal. Duc Chinh was given two chances to shoot unmarked by his teammates, but once he missed the ball and once he failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper. The striker from the PVF training center has not had the chance to score in the tournament in Laos. In the match against U19 Malaysia, he also missed a series of good chances.
In the final official minute of the first half, Tien Linh headed the ball against the crossbar. However, this player did not have to regret for too long because just one minute later, he increased the score to 3-0, after a through ball from Duy Khanh.
With nothing to lose, in the second half, U19 Singapore pushed up their formation to play an attacking game. However, the team from the lion island only created one scoring opportunity. In the 53rd minute, their number 8 defeated goalkeeper Thanh Tuan but the U19 Vietnam defender quickly retreated to clear the ball right on the goal line.
The U19 Southeast Asian tournament schedule is very tight, with a match every two days. Therefore, coach Hoang Anh Tuan proactively instructed his players to slow down the game to avoid losing physical strength, and also took some key players out to rest. However, in the second half, U19 Vietnam scored three more goals.
In the 64th minute, U19 Vietnam scored a goal to raise the score to 4-0 after a beautiful combination. Quang Hai made a through pass, Van Hoa ran down to receive the ball, passed it back to Trong Hoa who shot hard like a needle, forcing goalkeeper Rohaizad to go into the net to pick the ball up. In the 80th minute, the score was raised to 5-0. Duc Chinh continued to be unlucky when his close-range shot failed to beat the Singapore U19 goalkeeper, but immediately, the player who had been on the field for only four minutes, Tien Anh, was able to score.
Having conceded too many goals, many Singapore U19 players were upset and the climax was Suhaimi's elbow on Duc Chinh Phu 83. This player immediately received a red card. But that was not the end of the match. In the third minute of extra time, Tien Linh sealed the score 6-0 for Vietnam U19.
With the same seven points as U19 Malaysia, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team have a better goal difference and are in the lead.
One hour after the match between U19 Vietnam and U19 Singapore ends, U19 Malaysia will play the final match of the group stage against U19 Myanmar. U19 Myanmar is also the final opponent in the group stage of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team, the match will take place on August 31.
