Striker Ha Duc Chinh helped U19 Vietnam open the score in the 8th minute. Playing with a disadvantage, U19 Hong Kong unexpectedly equalized at the end of the first half thanks to Ho Shing Yuen Matthew.
However, the U19 Vietnam players quickly entered the game at the beginning of the second half and scored two more goals. Tien Linh increased the score in the 49th minute before Duc Chinh completed his double and sealed the 3-1 victory.
By the 87th minute, U19 Vietnam was down to 10 players after Van Hao received a red card for fouling an opponent in the 16m50 box. However, goalkeeper Thanh Tuan helped U19 Vietnam keep the score the same when he brilliantly won the penalty kick.
A good start gives U19 Vietnam an advantage in the journey to win a ticket to the U19 Asian tournament in Bahrain in October 2016.
In Group G, the biggest opponent of U19 Vietnam is the host team Myanmar. The remaining teams, Brunei, Timor Leste and Hong Kong, are all considered below the level of coach Hoang Anh Tuan's students.
The next match of U19 Vietnam is against Brunei at 4:00 p.m. on October 2.
The AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers feature 42 teams (including hosts Bahrain) and are divided into 10 groups. The teams that qualify for the finals are the 10 group winners and the five best runners-up. If hosts Bahrain are in this group, the sixth-best runners-up will be added.
