U19 Vietnam lost heavily to Australia in the U19 Southeast Asian tournament
Despite great efforts, U19 Vietnam lost heavily to U19 Australia in the second match of the 2024 Southeast Asian Cup.
On the afternoon of July 21, the U19 Vietnam team faced U19 Australia in the second match of Group B of the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament. Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team had to win to keep their hopes of advancing.
Entering this match, U19 Vietnam carried a special motivation to compete, as the players wore mourning armbands to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

AFF and the host country Indonesia also observed a minute of silence before the match, to express their feelings and respect for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Entering the match, the U19 Vietnam players entered the game with high spirit, the red shirt players controlled the ball more, but lacked sharpness.

Meanwhile, U19 Australia was the more effective team. In the 18th minute, from a move up the left wing, the ball was crossed easily for U19 Australia player Najdovski to easily defeat goalkeeper Cao Van Binh in a face-to-face situation to open the score for the match.
After conceding a goal, Coach Hua Hien Vinh's players rushed forward to attack. But while we were trying to find an equalizer, U19 Australia scored the second goal. In the 39th minute, Najdovski completed his double after a very simple attack. The U19 Vietnam defense had 5 players but still allowed the 2 players in black to pass the ball to each other successfully. The first half ended with a score of 1-0.

Entering the second half, the U19 Vietnam players continued to rise up to find a goal. However, when we were struggling on the U19 Australia field, from a quick counter-attack, the number 9 players of the U19 Australia team accelerated and finished to raise the score to 3-0.
In the following minutes, U19 Vietnam continued to attack persistently, and their efforts helped U19 Vietnam score a goal to shorten the score to 1-3. In the 56th minute, after a wing move by Long Vu, player Quang Dung controlled the ball neatly and finished beautifully to shorten the score for U19 Vietnam.

With the goal, the U19 Vietnam players played better, Long Vu and his teammates continued to attack but still could not reach the opponent's goal.
Meanwhile, from just a simple attack by the opposing team, player number 17 of U19 Australia seized the opportunity and raised the score to 4-1.
In the 84th minute, in a situation where Cong Phuong tried to fight for the ball, the goalkeeper of U19 Australia committed a foul. The referee immediately pointed to the 11m mark, player Bao Long successfully converted to reduce the score to 2-5 for U19 Vietnam.
However, U19 Australia showed their superiority by scoring another goal before the referee blew the final whistle.
Losing 2-6, U19 Vietnam was almost eliminated in the group stage of the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament, when only 3 first-place teams and 1 best second-place team qualified for the semi-finals./.
