Despite their best efforts, the U22 Vietnam team lost to the host team China in the opening match of the CFA Team China 2024 international friendly tournament on the evening of September 4, in Changsha city (China).

The U22 Vietnam team entered the match with a very high determination. It was coach Dinh Hong Vinh's students who had the opportunity to score first in the 6th minute, when Africa dribbled past the U22 China defenders before shooting diagonally, but goalkeeper Yu Jinyong swung his leg to save a clear goal for the home team.

However, it was also because of the excessive elevation that the right wing of U22 Vietnam, led by Chau Phi, revealed certain gaps for U22 China to exploit. Accordingly, from a quick and strong ball organization on the left wing, a home team player broke through and passed to Aifeierding to run in and score a goal for the home team in the 15th minute.

The loss did not discourage U22 Vietnam. The players then continued to play with more determination, organizing diverse attacks, creating many scoring opportunities towards the home team's goal. In the 16th minute, Thai Son passed the ball to Thanh Nhan to shoot from afar, the ball went over the crossbar. Ten minutes later, it was Duc Viet's turn to try to pass the ball, although Dinh Bac's curling shot went just wide of the post.

Despite missing many opportunities, the tireless efforts of U22 Vietnam were finally rewarded with an equalizer in the first half's injury time. Starting from a free kick by Dinh Bac, the ball came to Quoc Viet's feet and this striker corrected the ball into the far corner, scoring the equalizer 1-1.

In the second half, U22 Vietnam continued to be confident when creating an equal position compared to the home team. Also in the second half of this match, coach Dinh Hong Vinh made personnel adjustments to help many players have the opportunity to experience international matches. Despite the change in formation, U22 Vietnam basically maintained flexibility in the ball deployment phases.

Dinh Hong Vinh's students continued to create many clear scoring opportunities. The most typical situation was in the 68th minute when, just a few minutes after entering the field, Hieu Minh had a dangerous close-range header, but goalkeeper Yu Jinyong made an excellent save. In the 86th minute, Xuan Bac escaped Liu LangZhou's pursuit and then fired a low shot across the corner, but the home team's goalkeeper caught it. Two minutes later, Dinh Bac fired a shot past the U22 China goalkeeper, but unfortunately the ball hit the post.

Unable to take advantage of good scoring opportunities, U22 Vietnam had to pay a heavy price when in the 90th minute, He Xiaoke escaped and shot, scoring the final goal 2-1 for U22 China./.
