Thailand wants to buy the copyright of SEA Games for 200,000 USD

Secretary General of the 32nd SEA Games Organizing Committee, Vath Chamroeun shared on March 16: "There are 4 countries that have purchased television copyrights.SEA Games 32are Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia". Of which, Singapore spent 500,000 USD to buy the television rights for the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

The price of broadcasting rights for SEA Games 32 for each country is different based on market data and population size of each country.

Nattawut Rueangwet, former Deputy Governor of SAT, told Thai media that the copyright price offered by the host Cambodia was too high. Mr. Nattawut Rueangwet expressed his hope that SAT would make every effort to buy the copyright of the SEA Games at a reasonable price, so that Thai people can watch and cheer on the athletes of the Golden Temple country on television.

Cambodia has become the first SEA Games host country to sell broadcasting rights for a regional sports event. Previously, SEA Games hosts did not sell broadcasting rights but only collected “transmission fees”.
