U23 Vietnam: Why is it difficult for overseas Vietnamese players to stay?
Most overseas Vietnamese players who return to their homeland to play for Vietnam from U17 to U23 level cannot stay, despite high expectations. What is the reason?

Most recently, young striker Bui Alex, who grew up at the Bohemians Praha training center (Czech Republic), had to say goodbye to U23 Vietnam right before the U23 Southeast Asian tournament. Before that, Andrej Nguyen An Khanh also left early after returning home.
At the U17 level, cases like Thomas Mai Veeren, who had an impressive performance at the Dutch youth tournament, or Maxwell James Peereboom, despite expectations, could not convince the coaching staff to participate in important tournaments.
The deeper and more decisive reason probably lies in the differences in football culture and lifestyle, language and even weather.
Returning to Vietnam, they have to face big changes, requiring time and high adaptability. Many have difficulty integrating with teammates, or getting used to different football philosophies.
Rare successful cases like Viktor Le, Nguyen Filip, Dang Van Lam or Cao Quang Vinh all have one important thing in common: they have previously played football or lived in Vietnam.
Chelsea sinks PSG, wins FIFA Club World Cup
Early morning of July 14, Chelsea caused a big surprise when they beat PSG 3-0 in the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup at MetLife Stadium.
Before the match, even the optimistic fans did not expect Chelsea to be so dominant against the strongest team in the world. With only 3 attacks on the right wing and 3 shots on target, the Premier League representative scored 3 goals in the first half.

Cole Palmer's brilliant performance with 2 goals and 1 assist helped the Conference League champions finish off the reigning Champions League champions in just 45 minutes.
Chelsea became the first champions of the new FIFA Club World Cup, and the second time they became the kings of world football at the club level. In addition to the noble title, the team at Stamford Bridge also pocketed a bonus of up to 97 million pounds.
On the other hand, the bitter defeat caused PSG to miss the opportunity to win six trophies. In the immediate future, coach Luis Enrique and his team will have to compete for the European Super Cup against Tottenham before the 2025/26 season.
MU finalizes goalkeeper to replace Onana
MU plan to recruit goalkeeper John Victor from Botafogo for about 6 million pounds to replace injured Andre Onana.

The "Red Devils" must find a new goalkeeper in the context of Andre Onana's inconsistent performance since joining Old Trafford for 47 million pounds in 2023. Most recently, Onana also suffered a hamstring injury, thereby missing the early stages of the new season, with the Premier League opening match against Arsenal on August 17.
According toGoal Brazil, MU is ready to activate the £6 million contract release clause of goalkeeper John Victor. Botafogo is also preparing for Victor's departure by recruiting Matheus Mendes of Atletico Mineiro to replace him.
Garnacho refused to join his idol Ronaldo's team
Alejandro Garnacho has just rejected an invitation to join Al-Nassr Club, where Cristiano Ronaldo is playing.
The young Argentine is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, after falling out with head coach Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho is one of five players left out of Manchester United's pre-season tour of the United States.
The Manchester team allows the 21-year-old striker to find a new destination and resolve his future before the summer transfer market closes.
According to Telegraph, Al-Nassr has just sent an attractive offer inviting Garnacho to Saudi Arabia to play with his idol Ronaldo.
However, this striker immediately refused because he prioritized staying in Europe, in the context that many other teams were also interested such as Napoli or Atletico Madrid.
