Yen Thanh District People's Committee responded to the issue raised by the newspaper
(Baonghean) -On February 28, 2013, the "Hotline Information" section of Nghe An Newspaper reported the situation of jostling, "brokers", garbage, expensive prices... at Duc Hoang Temple, Phuc Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District - a national historical and cultural relic.
On March 5, 2013, Yen Thanh District People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 165/UBND.VH requesting to receive feedback from your newspaper to help the District People's Committee better manage state activities at the national relic Duc Hoang Temple.
After reading the above information, Yen Thanh District People's Committee established an inspection team, worked with the People's Committee and the Relic Management Board of Phuc Thanh Commune and responded to the issue raised by the newspaper with the following content:
- Regarding the prices of offerings, petitions, and tattoo numbers: the area selling offerings outside the temple is privately owned. The District People's Committee has requested the People's Committee of Phuc Thanh commune to take measures in state management of private businesses in the temple area. If price gouging or price hikes are discovered, they will be handled according to regulations.
Regarding the sale of amulets and prayers, the actual selling price at Duc Hoang Temple is equal to or lower than that of other relics in the province. The annual sale of amulets and prayers is used to cover the cost of incense, festival activities, infrastructure construction and relic management. Buying or not is not mandatory, visitors who come to pray for peace can write the content on white paper and ask the priest to perform it without paying any cost for the ceremony.
- Regarding the issue of jostling, pushing, and noise: Duc Hoang Temple was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Relic since 1998, famous for its charming scenery, sacredness, attracting a large number of tourists to visit the temple and sightsee, especially on the first days of the year, the 15th and 1st (lunar calendar) of each month. Although the temple grounds are relatively large, the main hall area is narrow, so with the large number of tourists, the Temple Management Board has developed regulations and has taken remedial measures such as dividing into groups to burn incense, regularly reminding to avoid disorder. Due to the limited awareness of a part of the people, jostling and pushing still occur. The District People's Committee would like to accept the opinions raised by the newspaper and in the coming time will direct the People's Committee of Phuc Thanh commune and the Relic Management Board to take corrective and remedial measures.
-Regarding the issue of garbage in front of the temple gate: Garbage inside and outside the temple is usually collected and processed daily by the cleaning team. However, the number of visitors coming to worship and sightsee is too large in the first days of spring and because a part of the visitors have poor awareness and litter in the temple grounds, the cleaning team has not been able to handle it in time. Up to now, the amount of garbage has been cleaned up, creating solemnity and cultural beauty for the relic.
- The problem of "brokers": Through inspection, the inspection team has not discovered this phenomenon. The District People's Committee has assigned the responsibility to the People's Committee of Phuc Thanh commune to regularly inspect. If any "brokers" phenomenon is discovered, it will be strictly handled according to the provisions of the law.
