(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of November 6, under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong, the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with relevant sectors to listen to and give opinions on the draft project to convert the Que Phong Protective Forest Management Board into the Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board.
Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the meeting
Pu Hoat Nature Reserve (BTTN) has an area of 90,741 hectares, running along the Vietnam - Laos border, under the management of Que Phong district. With outstanding features, the land in Pu Hoat Nature Reserve is of the nature of the red Feralit highland region, with an average altitude of 1000 - 1500 m. Pu Hoat Nature Reserve has a rich and diverse forest and flora system, with many rare species. Over the years, forest management and protection in Que Phong district in general and Pu Hoat Nature Reserve in particular have had many shortcomings, leading to increasingly serious forest encroachment. The establishment of Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board will create favorable conditions for forest management, protection and development, ensuring sustainable development, and providing a favorable basis for scientific research, genetic resource conservation, investment attraction and international cooperation. At the same time, attract economic sectors to participate in managing, protecting and developing forest capital, actively contributing to the settlement of ethnic minorities, and strengthening national defense and security at the border.
The Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board was converted from the Que Phong Protection Forest Management Board with the following tasks: managing, building, developing and using forests, forestry land, and building investment projects in accordance with the provisions of law. Along with propaganda and education, it will focus on transferring scientific and technical advances in forestry to local communities in protecting, building and developing forests.
After listening to the opinions of relevant departments and agencies, comrade Dinh Viet Hong concluded: The conversion from Que Phong Protective Forest Management Board to Pu Hoat Nature Reserve Management Board is based on inheriting the material facilities and human resources of Que Phong Protective Forest Management Board. He also requested that, based on the opinions of the departments and agencies, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development continue to supplement and complete the project to submit to the Provincial People's Committee in the coming time.
