The Provincial People's Committee gives opinions on the Project on Forest Economic Development and Large Livestock Raising

(Baonghean.vn) -On August 27, under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session to discuss the project of Forest Economic Development, the project of raising large cattle and processing milk according to the content of the Conclusion Notice No. 368/TB-UBND dated August 15, 2013 of the Provincial People's Committee.

Nghe An is a province with conditions and potential for livestock development, especially large cattle breeding, with a total natural land area of ​​nearly 16,487 km2. In 2012, the total herd of buffalo and cows reached 675,258 heads, meat output reached more than 20,440 tons, milk output reached 59,544 tons... Based on the potential and results achieved, the Project for large cattle breeding and milk processing development in the period 2011-2015 of the province has set the following targets: The total herd of buffalo and cows by 2015 will reach 1 million heads, of which the buffalo herd will reach 370,000 heads, the cow herd will reach 630,000 heads, milk output will reach 70,000 tons, and by 2020 it will be 100,000 tons. The output of fresh meat by 2015 is 19,400 tons, by 2020 is 25,000 tons. To achieve these targets, the project offers solutions on feed, veterinary work, policy mechanisms, etc.

Regarding the Forest Economic Development Project for the period 2011-2015, the project's objectives are: To protect the existing forest area well, promote afforestation and natural forest restoration, by 2015, 74,380 hectares will be planted, increasing forest coverage to 55%. Managing, protecting and exploiting forests in a sustainable manner, creating stable income, creating jobs and increasing income for rural people... Striving for the total forestry production value to reach 1,725,000 million VND/year; the internal structure accounts for 9.7% of the total structure of the Agriculture-Forestry-Fisheries sector. Growth rate from 3.5 to 4.1%/year
