The report of the Department of Planning and Investment shows that: Nghe An's socio-economic situation in the first quarter of 2015 has many positive changes, better than the same period last year. Total production value reached 11,187 billion VND, up 6.22% over the same period, GDP growth rate over the same period was higher than the previous 2 years, reaching 6.22%.

The area of ​​spring crops is estimated at 186,334.2 hectares, equal to 99.55% compared to the same period last year. The area of ​​spring rice cultivation is estimated at 89,963 hectares, equal to 104.61% of the plan, equal to 99.68% compared to the same period. Corn, sweet potatoes, and various vegetables and beans have all increased compared to the spring crop last year.

The peanut planting area is estimated at 15,000 hectares, equal to 98.05% compared to the same period last year. The spring peanut area is mainly concentrated in districts with traditional production such as Dien Chau, Quynh Luu, Nghi Loc, Nam Dan, Do Luong... Some other industrial crops such as cassava, sugarcane, tobacco... are also planted by farmers according to the crop calendar and plan.
