Provincial People's Committee works with KOICA research team (Korea) on gender equality
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 8 in Vinh city, the People's Committee of Nghe An province had a working session with a delegation of experts from the Korea International Cooperation Agency - KOICA, on the content of the study and assessment of gender equality in KOICA's educational projects in Nghe An.
Attending the meeting, on the Korean side, there was Ms. Kim Un Jiung - Korean Women's Policy Research Institute, Gender Equality Research Board of KOICA project.
Receiving and working with the delegation were comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Committee for the Advancement of Women in Nghe An province; representatives of the Departments of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Planning and Investment, Provincial Women's Union and Vietnam - Korea Vocational College.
Speaking with a delegation of experts from the Korean Women's Policy Research Institute, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Dai affirmed: With the participation of the entire political system, after 3 years of implementing the National Strategy on Gender Equality, Nghe An province has achieved many remarkable results. The province has directed sectors and localities to pay special attention to the issue of gender equality, expanding communication, education and dissemination of the Law on Gender Equality, the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2011-2020. Accordingly, currently in provincial departments, branches and sectors and the Provincial People's Committee, 47% of leaders are female. The force of civil servants and district-level People's Council agencies has 85% female cadres. As for the commune level, it is 25%.

Women also participate in the school’s staff, management and leadership. In the recruitment of students, both men and women are equal in selection. The Vietnam – Korea Vocational College, a beneficiary of the KOICA education project, has received special attention from the province in terms of capital support, human resource training as well as creating conditions for female staff to participate in studying and improving their knowledge.
The arrangement of accommodation and living conditions for students in general and female students in particular is best ensured. In arranging jobs for students of the Vietnam - Korea University, the agencies and enterprises always create equality for female students in attracting them. Health care, maternity, social insurance, and protection of women's rights are always respected and protected. Among the 170 staff of the Vietnam - Korea Vocational College, there are 58 female staff, accounting for 34%; 35% of the staff and teachers are female with master's degrees.

Answering questions about the proportion of female workers and training of female students in Nghe An in general and the Vietnam - Korea College in particular, comrade Le Xuan Dai and related agencies and departments said: currently the profession with the highest proportion of women is education and training, followed by factories, enterprises, electronic equipment assembly companies, garment manufacturing... in these units, women account for 85%. For the Vietnam - Korea Vocational College, the province and departments have directed and guided the school to expand the type of training to attract female students.

In the training structure, the province will create conditions for female students to participate in industries suitable for women's health and abilities, such as: information technology; production and processing of cakes using Korean technology (available at the Vietnam - Korea Vocational College since 2013). In addition, it will create all conditions for students to have a working environment suitable for their abilities.
