Nghe An Provincial People's Committee directs Ebola epidemic prevention

Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister in the urgent dispatch no.1392/CD-TTg dated August 9, 2014; of the Ministry of Health in Official Dispatch No.5107BYT-DPOn August 1, 2014, regarding the prevention and control of hemorrhagic fever caused by Ebola virus, the Provincial People's Committee requests:

1. The Department of Health coordinates with relevant departments, branches and localities to resolutely implement disease control work. Specifically:

- Advise the Provincial People's Committee on plans to prevent and control Ebola virus disease in the province;

- Closely coordinate with competent authorities at the border gate to closely monitor importers, pay attention to people from countries with epidemics, and carry out good surveillance in the community and medical facilities. When detecting a suspected case of Ebola virus disease and a history of traveling from an epidemic area within 21 days, immediately quarantine and take samples to send to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology or the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City for testing.

- Fully prepare facilities, isolation rooms, equipment, drugs, chemicals for Ebola prevention and treatment. Pay special attention to personal protective equipment (N95 masks, anti-epidemic clothing for medical staff, close contacts, and patient's family members), separate means of transport, and disinfectants.

- Organize well the admission and treatment of patients at qualified medical facilities to ensure the prevention of infection and minimize deaths. Have a plan to arrange hospital beds and medical facilities for treatment when there are a large number of patients.

- Fully implement personal protective measures for medical staff and people in contact with suspected or confirmed cases, to prevent the spread of the disease to medical staff, other patients in the hospital as well as to the community.

- Strengthen anti-epidemic teams and mobile emergency teams, be ready to perform tasks when necessary and organize regular anti-epidemic teams according to regulations.

2. The Department of Information and Communications directs local media agencies to proactively and promptly report on the epidemic situation, transmission mechanism, level of danger and measures so that people know, stay calm, and proactively prevent and control according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.

3. The Department of Finance has a plan to allocate funds and is ready to provide additional support for disease prevention and control work as requested by the Department of Health...

4. People's Committees of districts, cities and towns: Coordinate with the Department of Health to direct local health agencies and relevant units to resolutely carry out disease control work in the area, effectively prevent the spread of disease in the community; ensure adequate provision of means, materials, equipment and funding for disease prevention activities in the area.

The Provincial People's Committee requests departments, branches, People's Committees of districts, cities, towns and related units to seriously implement./.
